Championship Update

With the Senior side's season finished the U16 A & B and Premier Junior sides were bringing their seasons to a conclusion this week. The Premier Junior team's chance of securing a semi-final place was dashed by a heavy 6-13 to 1-3 defeat away to Westmeath. This side which has been going through an extensive phase of re-building following last year's Junior A successes have been competitive all year and have consolidated their status at this level this year. Their final game next week is away to Dublin.

The
U16 B side have struggled all season with results and their final game against a very strong Meath side was unfortunately no different. These girls have shown great spirit through the year and the character they showed was a credit to their jersey.

The
U16 A team are also out of the reckoning for a play-off place and go into their final game at home to Offaly looking for a second win which would crown a strong performance so far in the championship.

With
LImerick's inter-county interest for 2015 unfortunately drawing to a close, Bank Holiday Monday sees the start of the championship season with the Senior and Junior grades first off the block. 21 clubs were represented at the launch of the new season in the
Woodlands House Hotel last week and with 24 clubs competing at U13, U14, U16, Minor, Junior, Intermediate and Senior grades it promises to be a busy few months of Camogie action.

The
first round throws up some interesting clashes with Senior Champions Granagh Ballingarry opening their defence against Ballyagran and the runners-up of the past two years Ahane and Killeedy facing off in another tie. The pick of the Junior matches is probably
the clash of last year's runners-up Knockaderry with this year's League champions Shannonside.
