Co. Senior Football League.

NCW 1 -9
Abbeyfeale 1- 8

We defeated Abbeyfeale in the Co League in Newcastle last Wednesday evening by 1 point .In a game where we played better in patches than in previous games we started slowly and where down by 5 points

After 10 minutes. At half time we trailed by three points on a score line of 1-5 to 5 points. In the second half enjoying the lion's share of possession we out scored out opponents by 1-4 to 3points.  Indeed with some great accuracy and composure in front of goals we may possibly have won by a larger margin.

We entertained Monagaein the field on Saturday evening last in the Co League. Missing some regulars due to holidays and other commitments we had a youthful team out who acquitted themselves

Quite well for large parts of the game. Playing some crisp sharp hurling in difficult conditions we led at half time 1 -8 to 6 points . In the second half we lost our composure for a period and left Monagae get

Within 2 points of us. However we again exerted our dominance and managed to pull 7 points ahead before Monagae managed a last minute goal. Overall a positive result and further improvement ahead of

U14 Football

St. Kieran's 2-14 Newcastle West 4-6

Our U14 footballers came up just short in a thriller in Coolcappa. Having had mixed results to date we faced the table toppers knowing that we had a tough task on our hands. Our lads despite playing reasonable well in the first half found themselves 2-9 to 0-3 behind at half time. However we regrouped at half time and took the game to St. Kieran's in the second half. A better work rate and more intelligent use of the ball saw us make serious inroads into their lead and with 3 minutes remaining we were level and looking the more likely to win. However credit to St. Kieran's they scored two late points to seal the win. We have two group games remaining against Galbally and Mungret and one win should see us qualify for the semi-final.

Panel: Ethan Hurley, Todd Donovan, Michael Cremin, Andrew Mortell, Ruadhan O Connor, Evan Mc Mahon, Jody Woulfe, Bryan Nix, Luke Gleeson, Daniel Normoyle, Brian Foley, Evan Sheehan, Conor Walker, Mikey McNamara, Morgan, Sheehan, Jack Duggan, Michael Nash, Keith Begley.

Next Fixture v Galbally in NCW on Wednesday 22nd July

U14 Hurling

Newcastle West 6-7 Deel Rangers 0-4

Our hurlers continued their good form against Deel Rangers in Knockaderry on Wednesday last. Despite the score line the first half was very tight and two late goals gave us a cushion of a 3-2 to 0-2 half time lead. The lads dominated in the second half out scoring our opponents by 3-5 to 0-2. Our performance was not quite at the standard of recent games  but a good win never the less. We now top the table with 5 wins from 5 with the next game at home to Granagh/Ballingarry crucial to securing the top spot.

Next Fixture v Granagh/Ballingarry in NCW on Wednesday 29th July.

Panel: Ethan Hurley, Morgan Sheehan, Michael Cremin, Andrew Mortell, Ruadhan O Connor, Evan Mc Mahon, Evan Sheehan, Jody Woulfe, , Luke Gleeson, Bryan Nix, Brian Foley, Mikey McNamara, Conor Walker, Daniel Normoyle, Jack Duggan, Padraig Walsh, Leon Barry

U12 Football league

The U12's continued on their winning ways on Thursday evening last in Abbeyfeale Vs Fr Caseys. Panel:

Paudie Kelly, Donal Bourke,  Eddie Ward, Oisin Enright, Ethan Hurley,  John Whelan, Dylan Scanlon, Tyler Clancy,Oisin Collins,, sean geraghty, Brian Coughlan

The U12's played a hurling challenge against Newtownshandrum on Saturday last and played extremely well to run out winners.

U11 Football league:

The U11Football squad suffered their first defeat of the year on Friday night last. They played Monaleen in Newcastlewest and played against a strong wind in the first half. Moanleen used the conditions to run up a good first half score. Newcastlewest chased the game in the second half but to no avail a sleek monaleen utfit hunted in packs to beat us in the breakdown, often a team learns more in defeat and builds character to fir the future
