CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS
U10 Camogie Last Saturday morning we played a  friendly match away in Crecora, the bad weather that was forecast never arrived and it turned out to be a beautiful morning with ideal conditions for camogie. Monaleen started strongly and were the better team for the 1st quarter. Crecora came back at us in the 2nd quarter but we defended brilliantly and still held the lead at half time. We asked the girls to put in a big effort in the 3rd quarter to match the skill levels they had shown at the start and fair play to them, they put massive intensity into their play and won all the 50/50 battles resulting in some great scores. Some of the play at this stage was marvellous to watch, hooking, blocking, rising, soloing, striking was all on view but it was the work rate and team work of everyone of the girls that secured this hard fought victory. We kept all this good work up in the 4th quarter to finish strongly adding some more scores. This was in my 6 months with this team probably one of the best matches I was lucky enough to have seen and for the entire 40 minutes of play it was end to end thrills. Some of the highlights were a superb block down by Grace and a spectacular high catch by Ciara but everyone one of the girls deserve credit for the way they played. Even though the game was competitive it was very much played in the "Go Games" philosophy where every player participated and had fun. Thanks to parents for making the effort to travel out & support. Team on the day was: Abi Houlihan, Amie O'Brien, Aoife O'Brien, Ciara Buckley, Ellie Madden, Grace Field, Isabelle O'Riordan, Kate O'Connor, Laura Southern, Laurie Murnane, Niamh Twomey, Sadhbh Connolly. Training next Thursday @ 6.00 & practice during the week.
