County Senior Football Championship
Fr. Caseys 1-11 Adare 0-05

Fr. Caseys Senior footballers travelled to Newcastle West on Friday May 8th to take on Adare in round 2 of the County Championship. With both teams having lost their opening games victory was extremely important to keep qualification hopes on track. A point from play from Robert Browne gave Fr. Caseys an early lead that was soon cancelled out by a pointed free from Adare. Robert was on target once more, this time from a placed ball to restore the one point lead. Adare drew level once more before a point from play by Maurice Gleeson put Fr. Caseys back in front at the midway stage of the half. Adare third point of the night came from a free and once more there was stalemate between the teams. As the half progressed Fr. Caseys looked more dangerous in attack and on 20 minutes they got a crucial breakthrough when John Riordan was put through on goal and he met no mistake dispatching the ball to the back of the net. A pointed free from John Riordan soon followed and Fr. Caseys now had a four point advantage. Both teams converted pointed frees in the closing stages of the half with Robert Browne notching up his third point of the night. The half time score was Fr. Caseys 1-05, Adare 0-04.

It was important that Fr. Caseys began the second half in positive fashion and Derry O'Connor guaranteed that raising the white flag soon after the restart. A pointed free from Adare reduce the deficit but there would be no comeback as this was Adares final score of the night. Having contained their opponents in a hard fought first half, Fr. Caseys now began to show their dominance and five unanswered points in the closing 20 minutes gave the Abbeyfeale men a convincing victory that was truly deserved. The scorers in that period were Robert Browne with three points and Maurice Gleeson and Derry O'Connor with a point each. Next up is a meeting with Na Piarsaigh on June 5th. The final score was Fr. Caseys 1-11, Adare 0-05.

County Minor Football Championship
Fr. Caseys 1-09 Monaleen 1-08

Fr. Caseys Minor Footballers began the defense of their county title with an extremely hard fought one point victory over Monaleen last Friday night in Abbeyfeale. Under the new management team of Timmy Gleeson, Eamon Flaherty, David Moriarty and Tommy Gleeson it was Fr. Caseys who raced into an early lead with a brace of points from Michael Keane. Monaleen drew level on the scoreboard before Michael Keane had Fr. Caseys back in front once more. Two Monaleen points either side of a point from play from Conor Horan had the game tied on 20 minutes. Monaleen then took the lead for the first time and kicked three unanswered points to gain a commanding lead. A fourth point of the night from Michael Keane before the break reduced the margin to two points at half time. The score at half time was Fr. Caseys 0-05, Monaleen 0-07.

A big second half effort was required and Fr. Caseys made the perfect start with two early points before Conor Horan rattled the Monaleen net and suddenly Fr. Caseys were three points in front. Mark Broderick and Thomas Sexton helped stretch that lead to 5 points but Monaleen still had a comeback in them and when they scored a goal and a point in the closing stages there were definitely nerves in the Fr. Caseys camp. To their credit the Fr. Caseys defense stood firm and held on for a precious victory. The championship now breaks for the leaving cert exams and returns on July 24th with an away trip to St. Patricks. In the meantime we wish all our players sitting exams the very best of luck. The final score was Fr. Caseys 1-09, Monaleen 1-08.

West Junior A Football Championship
Fr. Caseys 1-02 Newcastle West 1-11

With a depleted squad through injury, exams and vacations we travelled to Tournafulla last Saturday week knowing we faced an uphill battle with Newcastle West. In the opening half Newcastle West outscored our Juniors by 1-04 to 0-02 with Donagh Kelly converting two pointed frees for Fr. Caseys. Our fortunes did not change in the second period and a Paudie Smith goal was our only score of the half. In contrast Newcastle West kicked seven further points to run out easy victors with nine points to spare. This team has great potential and their fortunes will change. This Friday night they play Feenagh/Kilmeedy in round 3 of the championship in Newcastle West at 7.30pm. With a stronger panel available we expect a much improved performance from this team.
