Galbally GAA Notes

May 18, 2015

The Under 15 football team received a walkover in their last group game and have now qualified for the Under 15 Premier Final which will take place in September. The Under 14 team drew with St Kierans recently in the County Under 14 Premier Football Championship on a scoreline of 2-8 to 3-5. Kevin Cooke, Nathan O'Mahony, Keane Baker, Jordan Dineen, Robert Sampson, Peter  O'Dwyer, Michael O'Donnell, Eoin O'Mahony, Brian Heavey, Josh Dineen, Shane Hanrahan, Eoin McGrath, Aidan Carew, Peter Morrissey, Patrick McGrath. They will play Moyle Rovers of Tipperary in a challenge game in the coming days as they prepare for the Feile trip to Wicklow and Wexford at the end of June. Selling of the €2 'time of first goal' tickets continues to help cover the costs. Please support, and anyone interested in helping selling at various venues should contact Mike McCabe on 087-2645119. At some recent senior club meetings, the work being done by Bord Na nOg was complimented. Discussions took place on the possibility of developing relationships with clubs in other counties with a view to playing regular challenge games, and also the possibility of bringing in high profile outside trainers to take occasional one off sessions.

The Galbally GAA Family Fun night and Greyhound night on the 13th June is gaining in popularity and tickets are selling briskly. It is an ideal family friendly event as schoolchildren wind down towards the summer holidays and a number of activities will take place such as facepainting, balloons, a clown etc. Tickes will be on sale on the night for a special monster raffle. First prize will be a widescreen television, and a tablet, a nutribullet, a hamper and numerous other prizes will be on offer. It promises to be an excellent occasion with a family friendly atmosphere and an ideal one-off social event for the community to mingle. An option is now available to purchase tickets online. Please email [email protected] for further details. Congratulations to Denis O'Brien who won €250 recently in the Limerick GAA Development Draw.

Galbally GAA would like to express our sympathies to the Cummins family on the death of their mother Lily last week. Her son Timmy Cummins played for almost 20 years with the Limerick Senior Football team. Another son Johnny Cummins represented Limerick at all levels and managed the Limerick Under 21 and Intermediate teams in 2012 and has also been a successful Galbally GAA manager. Her grandsons Ben Coughlan and James Cummins are part of the Limerick Under 15 squad at the moment.
