INTERMEDIATE: Intermediates travelled back to Pallaskenry last Saturday evening to play in their second all county league match against Kildimo/Pallaskenry and picked up a good victory on the evening.
The evening itself was sunny but with a strong breeze blowing and it was Kildimo/Pallaskenry who won the toss and played with the wind in the opening half. It was even enough for the opening ten minutes two points a piece and then Kildimo/Pallaskenry got a goal and they opened up a lead of four points our opening scores came from Gary Murphy , Kevin Wixted and Peter Tiernan. On eighteen minutes we got our first goal of the game a sideline ball cut in by Gary Murphy and was pulled on in the air by Brendan Hourigan and stuck to the back of the net. The wind was strong to play against and Kildimo/Pallaskenry did pick off more points and had the lead back up to five points with three minutes left in the half. Then won a sideline ball and a carbon copy of the first goal a Gary Murphy sideline was dropped around the fourteen yard line and this time Kevin Wixted struck on it and straight to the back of the net and a free by Gary Murphy left the game at half time 1-9 to 2-5 in favour of Kildimo Pallaskenry.
Second half under way Kildimo/Pallaskenry got the first score this seemed to spur on the lads and we upped a gear and good play at midfield by Aaron Power and James Enright sent a high ball into the full forward line to the waiting Theo Butler who ran on in and scored a bullet of goal. The game then opened up with both teams giving their all in what was also a physical game of hurling. Midway through the second half we had opened up a three point lead scores from play by Peter Tiernan and Theo Butler.
Kildimo/Pallaskenry introduced a few subs to up the pace of the game but our backs held firm under the pressure with both lines of half backs and full backs making great clearance's and huge work rate.
The game entering the final ten minutes was nip and tuck and Kildimo/Pallaskenry did get it back to under one point but few final scores for us and we held on for the win on the narrow margin of just one point. Final score Caherline 3-11 Kildimo/Pallaskenry 1-16
