Goalkeeper Nickie Quaid is a major doubt for Limerick's Munster SHC quarter-final clash with Clare on May 24th.

The Effin clubman, who has been a championship ever-present in goals for the Treaty County since 2011, having previously played outfield, sustained a collar bone injury during training on Friday night and is now in a race against time to be ready for the championship opener in Thurles in less than six weeks.

Should Quaid fail to recover in time for the derby meeting with the Banner County, manager TJ Ryan will choose between Hospital-Herbertstown clubman Aaron Murphy and Kilmallock's Barry Hennessy, who has yet to start a senior competitive match for Limerick.
