Ballysteen 10k/5k

Many thanks to everyone who gave their time and made sure that the 10K and 5K run/walk was a success on Saturday. It was a great show of Community spirit. Everything went well and the sun shined throughout the race. Many thanks also to Ryan's Centra Askeaton and SuperValu Askeaton for supplying water, fruit and food. 80 people took part in the third annual Ballysteen 10k/5k.
The top 3 for the Mens 10k were - 1- Michael Carmody, 2- Mike Neville, 3-Jeremiah Cremin.
The Womens 10k top 3 were 1- Sheila Clavin, 2- Jeni O'Regan, 3- Deirdre Sparling.
The top 3 for the Mens 5k were 1-Sean Mac, 2-Anthony Ryan, 3-Shane Hallinan.
The top 3 for the Womens 5k were 1- Bernie Foley, 2- Karen O'Sullivan, 3-Michelle Adams


Ballysteen V Oola

Ballysteen seniors had a very good win in the County League versus Oola played at a sun drenched Ballysteen on Tuesday 7th April. The final score was Ballysteen 3-13, Oola 2-4. Ballysteen have now won 4 out of 4 County League games and are top of the Division 2 table. The remaining games are Castlemahon at home on 14/5/15, Mountcollins away on 4/6/15 and Adare at home on 30/6/15.
Many thanks to Ann Moran and Mary Neville for providing both teams and supporters with refreshments after the match.

Well done to club man William O'Meara who came on for Limerick minor hurling team against Cork and scored a point.


Gaeltacht Scholarships 2015

All applicants must be club members, male or female either playing our games or involved in Scór. The €350 scholarships are for secondary school pupils only. They apply only to residential colleges under Comharchumann Chorca Dhuibhne(West Kerry); Coláiste Béal Atha an Ghaorthaigh(West Cork) or Coláiste na Roinne (Port Láirge) Anyone who is interested can contact Paul Anglim on 0872838990 or email [email protected]

Club Gear

Ballysteen Club Gear will soon be available to buy at Adrenalin Sports in Newcastlewest.

Golf Classic

Ballysteen GAA will be running a golf classic on the 3rd and 4th of July in Ardagh. This should be a very enjoyable day and a good fundraising exercise.


County Senior Football Championship

Ballysteen are playing Na Piarsaigh in the first round of the championship on the weekend starting on 23/04/15. St Kierans, Adare, Father Caseys and Newcastlewest are the other teams in the group.

Junior B Football League

Ballysteen Junior B team defeated Knockaderry 1-18 to 1-4 in Ballysteen in the Junior B league on Thursday 9 April. Ballysteen are unbeaten in all competitions so far this year. The team and scorers was: Joe Guerin, Mick Boyce, Roger Somers, Enda Gallagher, Declan Guerin 0-1, Alan O'Shaughnessy, David Holland, Barry McMahon 0-1, Corey Flynn, John Collins, Mark Murphy 0-2, Paul Maher 0-1, Maurice Somers 0-1, Brendan Hayes 1-5, Mike Neville 0-5. Subs: Emmet Whelan, John Blackwell, Steven Carrig 0-1, Maurice Hayes, Shane Carrig, Jamie O'Sullivan 0-1, Brian Neville, Brian O'Mahony. The remaining games are away to St. Senans on 21/4/15 and home to St Kierans on 5/5/15.

West Junior B Football Championship

We defend our West title in the first round of the Junior B Championship on 16 May against Rathkeale. We meet St Kierans on 23 May, Glin on 5th June and Athea on the 20th June.

West Minor A Football Championship

We play Athea/Mouncollins on the 24th April, Deel Rangers on 10th July and Shannon Gaels on the 17th July.

West Under 21 Football Championship

We are out on the 8th November against Shannon Gaels and play Deel Rangers on the 22nd of November.
