Despite last night's defeat to Cork, Limerick can still retain the Munster MHC.
The Treaty County, who are bidding for a third successive provincial title in the U18 grade, suffered a ten-point quarter-final defeat at Pairc Ui Rinn in Wednesday night's quarter-final, having bossed much of the first half.
But the bizarre make-up of the Munster minor hurling championship is that both losing quarter-finalists get a second bite at the cherry. Thus, on May 6th, Limerick and Waterford - who lost narrowly to Tipperary last night - will fight it out in last chance saloon for the right to face none other than Cork in a July 1st semi-final.
Alas, while Leo O'Connor's charges are still standing, they face a very tall order if they're to retain the provincial crown: to do so, they would have to overcome a highly-impressive Waterford outfit, turn the tables on the Rebels and then see off either Tipperary or Clare in the Munster final!
