County Senior Football League
Fr. Caseys 0-06 St. Kierans 1-11
Fr. Caseys Senior footballers travelled to Coolcappa last Thursday evening to take on St. Kierans in round 3 of the County League. With mixed form of late we were hoping to return to winning ways but minus our county contingent it was always going to be a tough task. Playing against the hill in the opening 30 minutes, Fr. Caseys kicked the opening point but unfortunately this was the last time they were to hit the front. Some needless frees allowed St. Kierans to level the game and ultimately take the lead before they started to find their range from opening play. Fr. Caseys end the half brightly to trail by 0-06 to 0-03 at half time.
Aided by the hill, Fr. Caseys needed a bright start to the second half but instead it was St. Kierans that raised the first white flag. Fr. Caseys controlled the lion's share of possession for much of the second half but a mixture of poor shot selection and a crowded St. Kierans defence meant that the Abbeyfeale men never cut the deficit significantly enough to regain the lead. Starved of opportunities for much of the half when the ball did reach the St. Kierans forwards they were extremely clinical, none more so than with 15 minutes to goal when they rattled the net for the only goal of the game. As Fr. Caseys threw everything forward late on to get a result they left gaps in defence and St. Kierans made the most to extend their winning margin. The full time score was Fr. Caseys 0-06, St. Kierans 1-11.
Con & Anne Kirby Puppy Stake
There were great celebrations in Limerick Greyhound Stadium last Saturday night when Cable Bay carrying the hopes of Fr. Caseys GAA Club stormed home to win the Con & Anne Kirby Memorial Puppy Stake Final. Many thanks to the McManus Family and Limerick Greyhound Stadium for organising such a wonderful event and to the Matthews Family for having the dog in great shape. We are extremely grateful to all our supporters that attended on the night to cheer on Cable Bay and many thanks also to Shane Curtin and Seamus McNamara for all their help on the way to the final.
Limerick FootballersThe Limerick Senior Footballers played Louth last Sunday in the final round of National League games. Limerick needed a positive result to maintain their Division 3 status and they did not disappoint winning away from home on a final score of 2-13 to 2-11. Well done to all especially Paudie, Robbie, John, David and Chris.
