Kildimo/Pallaskenry Club Notes

April 07, 2015

Table Quiz
Pallaskenry GAA will hold a table quiz on Friday 10th April in Clancy's bar at 9pm. It would be appreciated if as many players and parents came along to support. Tables of 4 cost €20 with great raffle prizes on the night. All money raised helps to fund playing equipment for all 20 teams of the club.

Limerick Senior Footballers
Our very own Peter Nash scored the crucial first goal as Limerick got a fantastic victory in Drogheda to stay in Division 3 of the National Football League for the 2016 season. It was a tension-filled game, and Peter's goal proved crucial as Limerick went on to win by just two points. It was Peter's third goal of the season and he has received plaudits in many quarters for his performances in attack throughout the campaign thus far. Congratulations to Peter, to Tony McCarthy and to the rest of the panel for a hard-fought league campaign in a tough division which will serve them well for the Championship.

Limerick Minor Hurlers
Congratulations to two club members who have made the cut for the Limerick minor hurling panel for 2015: Darren O'Connell and Kyle Hayes. They are two of the most talented hurlers in the club ranks, and have been rewarded for all the hard work they've put in over the years at club and county level. Limerick are targeting a third Munster minor title in a row, and have Leo O'Connor and Anthony Daly at the helm. The minors open their campaign on Wednesday night in Páirc Uí Rinn against a strong Cork side; every one at Pallaskenry and Kildimo GAA clubs wishes them the best of luck.

Mackey & Mayors Cup
Congratulations to Micheál Cuddihy who has been selected for this year's Mackey Cup squad and to Garry Sheehan who is part of the Mayors Cup squad. Again, it is great to see our club members recognised at different levels and these players have shone at school and club level.

Intermediate & Junior Hurlers
Both the intermediate and junior hurlers had challenge matches during Easter week, with the intermediates facing St. Kieran's, which finished on a scoreline of Kildimo/Pallaskenry 1-09 St. Kieran's 1-14; while the juniors were just edged out by Adare, finishing 0-13 to 1-12. Both were worthwhile games, from which the management teams certainly learned a lot. The intermediate hurlers were out again on Saturday evening for an All-County League game against Monagea. It was a closely-fought contest throughout, but Monagea's ability to get goals proved crucial in the end and our lads were edged out on a 2-13 to 5-10 scoreline in the end.

Services to Sport Award
Tom O'Connell recently received a Services to Sport Awards, in association with Limerick Sports Partnership. It was well-deserved and it was fantastic to see Tom's work recognised at county level and it is a great honour for Tom and for the club.
