Our U21 Premier Hurlers had two Championship games in the last week.
On Thursday night we faces AHANE in Rathkeale. The weather proved difficult and our lads gave a spirited display, running out second best to a dogged AHANE outfit 2-14 to 2-05
On Sunday morning in Knocklong we faced a fancied DOON team in our third outing in the Premier U21 Championship. The weather conditions were extremely difficult with massive rain falling overnight, and a gale of a wind blowing. The conditions suited neither side but especially not our young lads. A spirited display by all involved and a backs to the wall effort put in. The team were short a few regulars due to injury and travel and the lads that stepped up impressed.The final score of 2-17 to 0-07 was a poor reflection on the effort expended.
The team that faced DOON were;
Cian O'Dwyer, Christopher Murphy, Jamie Power, Dan Power, Darran Golden, Cian O'Brien, Kevin Gleeson, Mark O'Dwyer, Lorcan Lyons, John Nicholas, John Sheehan, Sean Power, Leo Morrisson.
Cheltenham Buster starting soon. After the success of last years Cheltenham Buster, we will be running it again this year, in conjunction with Erin's Own GAA club. There be a Monaleen GAA club prize this year as well as a chance of winning the national prizes. €20 is the cost of entry. Full details from Tony Power.

U12 Hurling
• We ventured to hosts Ahane GAA on Saturday to play in the first round of the inaugural U12 Hurling Spring League. We played Murroe Boher and Ahane in what were two good games, and we fared well in each. It was very encouraging to see an improvement in team play and tactical movement, with players helping each other out to win key ball and then pass the ball forward into space to forward moving players. Keep it up guys! Paddy O'Halloran, a player member in our senior club, is now helping us with coaching and his advice and example is helping our boys a lot. Thanks Paddy! Playing for Monaleen were Bryan Canny, Caimin Hannon, Declan Aylward, Dylan Crowe, Eoin Dignam, Eric Stritch, John Foley, Joseph Fitzgerald, Lochlann McHale, Mark Naughton, Max Ivory, Ronan Lyons, Rory Doyle, Shane Twomey. The spring league continues for the next three Saturdays in Ahane. Thanks to Ahane for hosting this league. Thanks also to Limerick GAA for hosting a Hurling Schools of Excellence for U12 during the recent school mid-term break. Seven of our players attended and their feedback was very positive.
