Returning to the past, 2015 is the 50th anniversary of the 1965 County Minor Football Championship won by Galbally, although the final did not take place until 1966 due to a boardroom wrangle involving the legality of the Treaty Sarsfields minor team who beat Galbally in the County semi-final. The late Padraig S O'Riain was instrumental in the boardroom and Galbally were awarded a place in the final, which they won on a scoreline of Galbally 2-6 Athea 0-2. For the record, the panel including some near neighbours from Ballylanders was: Joey Noonan, Paddy Fitzgibbon, Billy Noonan, John Crawford, Frank Allen, Jim O'Donnell (Capt), John Hedigan, Mike English, Nick Condon, Jack Sheehan (Vice Captain), Sean English, Michael Cleary, John Browne, Bob Fitzgerald, Paddy Lonergan, John Wallace, Tommy Henebry, Jack Sheehan (Vice Captain), Paddy Fox, Denis Scully, JJ Callaghan, Christy Fitzgibbon.

Galbally have won the minor title on three occasions and attached is a photograph of the three winning captains James 'Jazzer' O'Donnell (1965 captain), the late Wilsie Cussen (1940 captain) and Aidan Sheehan (2002 captain) who remains an important player with the club.
