U21 County Quarter Final
Fr. Caseys 1-12  St. Kierans 1-13
Fr. Casey's played St. Kieren's in the U21 championship semi-final at St. Patrick's GAA Club last Friday evening. St. Kieren's got the scoring underway with a point from a free free but Eoghan Kelly responded soon after at the other end with a point of his own. This exchange of points at the beginning of the game set the tone for the rest of the first half as both sides traded points, and the lead, on several occasions. Daniel Daly scored twice from play in this opening half with Cormac Roche also converting two frees. Peter Browne got on the score sheet also as he fired over a great point near the end of the half for the Abbeyfeale men. However, St. Kieren's always managed to move swiftly to the opposite end and take their chances to leave the score line at 0-06 to 0-06 at the half time whistle.
St. Kieren's got off to the much quicker start after half time and registered a point from a free before Fr. Casey's freetaker, Roche responded with a free at the other end. The intensity brought by St. Kieren's after half time continued however and they scored two in a row before Eoghan Kelly got his second point of the game. St. Kieren's then scored a great goal after a quick move and this put the Fr. Casey's men in a difficult position almost midway through the second half. St. Kieren's followed this up with a point to make it an uphill battle but the Abbeyfeale men got to grips with their opponents and began to play the football that they are capable of. Daniel Daly initiated an attempted comeback with a point from play and, after another point from St. Kieren's, Keith Harnett scored a fantastic goal to put the pressure on the opposition. Both teams then traded scores with Cormac Roche getting the Fr. Casey's point. There were three points between the teams heading into the final moments and the Fr. Casey's players pushed to get back into the game. Fr. Casey's won two frees which were again expertly converted by Roche but an equalising point never materialised. Thus, the U21 season for Fr. Casey's came to an end. The club would like to thank the players and management for the commitment shown in the last number of weeks.
