Minor Hurlers

The minor hurlers were in action again this past weekend when they took on Ahane for the Minor crown.

Played in a bitterly cold Gaelic Grounds on Sunday,it was Ahane who started the brighter racing into a three point lead.

Points from Ronan Lynch and Peter Casey kept us in touch but again our opponents opened up a four point lead 8 points to 4.

We then hit a purple patch and five unanswered points,Conor Houlihan(2),Peter Casey, Marcus McManemy and Ronan Lynch gave us a slender half time lead 9points to 8.

The second half began similiar to the first with Ahane getting the scores to again open up a four point cushion entering the final quarter.

We slowly began to take control around the middle of the field with Ronan Lynch,Peter Casey, Kieran Daly and Joe Gleeson leading the way and we soon found ourselves level 14 points a piece.

With five minutes left Kieran Daly put us a point to the good but again Ahane hit back to level.

Two glorious chances at the death by Conor Houlihan and Kieran Daly both unconverted and the final whistle then sounded.

A tough encounter and one which we will feel somewhat fortunate and accept a draw being a fair result.

Na Piarsaigh: Ronan Lynch 0-7 (6frees), Peter Casey 0-4, Conor Houlihan 0-2, Marcus McManemy and Kieran Daly 0-1 each.

Chairmen

Following recent AGM's in the club we now have two new Chairmen.

Our recent Club Secretary Risteard O Flaherty has now stepped up to take over from Timmy O Connor.

We wish to thank Timmy most sincerely for his efforts in guiding the club through its most successful era and wish him well in the future and wish Risteard well in his new role.

The camogie club also boast a new Chairman. Sean Murray the long serving committee member now takes up the reigns from Dave O Neill.

No doubt Sean will guide the Camogie club to even bigger things following another good year for them.

We wish both Chairmen well in guiding the fourtunes of Na Piarsaigh

We would also wish to pay tribute to long serving Treasurer Bill Kiely who gave the club great services over the year and now steps back to give others the chance to lead. Well done Bill.
