Munster Junior Club Semi Final
Glin 1-08
Kill 0-08
The fairytale continues for our great Junior football team. In a close, gripping encounter in Newcastle West, we eventually prevailed to secure a hard fought three point victory.

It was Kill who began the game well, shooting over two early points before we got on the scoreboard through a fine long range effort from Jack Fitzgerald. Kill then kicked another point before parity was achieved through two 30m frees from the boot of Darren Sheahan. It was a 1st half where the defences were very much to the fore and the half time score was 0-3 apiece.

The second half was a completely different affair and we began to take more of a grip on proceedings. Our forwards started to cause more problems for the Kill backs and this pressure yielded frees which were converted by the reliable Mark Culhane. Darren Sheahan swung over another point with the outside of his boot before Mark kicked another from play on the 50th minute mark which widened the gap to three. The clinching score however came six minutes from time. Jack Fitzgerald's pass dropped at the feet of Pádraig Costello and the wing back made no mistake, slotting the ball first time passed the Kill goalkeeper. Our opponents fought back valiantly, piling the pressure on our backs, but great credit was due to Kevin Sweeney and Aiden Mulvihill who contributed some vital inceptions in the dying stages of the game. When the referee blew the final whistle, a great cheer erupted from the Glin following, our place in this year's Munster decider now secured. Fair play to Newcastle West once more for the great condition of the pitch and their facilities and to Whelan's Bar for providing refreshments to both teams and supporters after the match. Great credit is also due to our supporters who turned out in such large numbers on Sunday.
