U21 County Championship
Fr. Casey's 2-16 St. John's 1-03
Our U21's had a comprehensive over St. John's in the County championship group game played at Mick Neville Park last Friday evening. Up to half time it looked like it would be a much closer affair with just four points separating the teams on a score line of 1-03 to 0-02. However, the second half was much easier for the Abbeyfeale men as the scores came more easily. Daniel Daly, a CIT student and a man with excellent "loud counting" skills, scored the first half goal while Jamie O'Connor got the second in the latter stages of the game. The sixteen point gap at the final whistle highlighted the dominance in the second half but bigger challenges lie ahead in the form of Oola who have been impressive so far in this campaign. The management team, led by horse trainer Tom Cahill, will be happy with the response he has received from the players after cracking the whip in recent weeks. Selector and skills coach Tom Fitzgerald will also be pleased but knows the bar has to be raised and the players will need to stay on track if they are to win this coming weekend.
