Intermediate Hurling County Final: Monaleen 0-08- Pallasgreen 0-11
Team: F Kenzie, D Madden, D Cosgrave, J Porter, C O'Brien, B Geary, E O' Connell, S Mullane, L Lyons, J O'Dwyer, E Doyle, L Murphy, P Russell, A LaTouche Cosgrave, G Collins. Subs: unused.
In wintry conditions in Bruff, Pallasgreen surged to an early lead of 4 points to 1 after 20 minutes.  In a game where we would record 16 wides, Monaleen were guilty of errant shooting in this opening period.  However a late flurry of scores put us ahead going into the break at 5 to 4.  Peter Russell and Ed Doyle scoring some lovely points.  The use of the short puckout was working well for the Monaleen outfit, with Jamie Porter getting on a lot of ball and some very intelligent hurling being played. Pallasgreen withdrew their corner forward, freeing up Jamie and this suited Monaleen with Feargal Kenzie then having plenty of options to play short.  The second half started at a quick pace with both sides exchanging scores. Pallas got a 2 point cushion which Monaleen could not pull back. Jamie Porter scored a massive point after dispossessing his man, breaking forward and under severe pressure pointing from 50 yards out.  With 10 mins remaining, Pallas were a point up, and after a great break from Shane Mullane, Peter Russell had a goal effort saved.  Pallasgreen broke upfield and were awarded a free which was pointed and the wind was taken from the Monaleen sails.  A frantic final few minutes saw Monaleen push for a goal, but to no avail. Pallasgreen held tough and recorded the win.  Well done to all involved this year. A huge effort by a very honest bunch. Next year will see us compete in The Premier Intermediate grade, which we are more than capable of winning.  With such an abundance of young talent, the future is bright.   Hurling was the winner in Monaleen this year. Our U21's, Intermediates and Junior B Hurlers all reached county finals with the U21's winning theirs.  Special mention to Brian Geary, Shane Mullane, Feargal Kenzie and Damien Cosgrave who all hurled with distinction yesterday. The same 4 men hurled magnificently 17 years ago when we last won the Intermediate Championship in 1997. A great record for 4 great servants of Monaleen Hurling.  Special mention also to the management team of Jimmy Browne, Eddie Cosgrave, Eamonn Cosgrave, Jed O'Dwyer, Tosh O'Connor, Ger Maughan and Dermot Foley.   Thanks for the excellent preparation and mentoring all year, all of which were top class.

Race Night: Monaleen GAA Club is currently commencing a substantial redevelopment programme which involves a much needed improvement in our playing facilities to cater for an ever increasing playing population.  The lands have been acquired, planning permission has recently been approved and expenditure in the region of €250,000 is required to cover the costs involved in providing a state of the art hurling wall, juvenile playing field and all-weather tennis courts.  We do have limited existing resources and some lotto funding has been approved.  However we do need to raise monies locally and in this regard we're holding a race night in the clubhouse on Saturday 29th November.  You can help in any of the following ways:
1. Become a Race Sponsor. -  €100.00
2. Advertise in the race programme.  Full page €100. Half page €60.00. Quarter page €40.00

U12 Football: 2002 Boys Football U13 County Final  Last Saturday our U12 footballers reached their first (of many!) county finals. We were playing at U13 level for experience and got to the final on the back of three great wins in October. We played in Rathkeale against St Kieran's of Ardagh in the final. We had a strong line up of players on the day and our loyal supporters came out in force to cheer us on. St Kieran's were a very strong, physical but fair team and ran out comfortable winners in the end but that was not to take away from excellent performances all round by our boys. The year (and two years in some cases) difference in ages showed but our lads will be all the stronger for the experience. We went back to the Monaleen clubhouse afterwards for some food and refreshments to celebrate the boys great achievement of reaching the county final.  The panel on the day were: Paul Brennan, Paul O'Shea, Nicky O Dwyer, David Mullowney, Liam Dillon, Lee Bennett, Xavier Henry, Harry Doyle, Conor Carew, Ronan Lyons, Lachlann McHale, Niall Curtin, Donnacha O Dálaigh, Eoin O Driscoll, Luca Grimes, Jamie McNamara, Mark Collins, Ryan Power, Conor Yelverton, Noel Clancy and Cian Mulkearn.
