Na Piarsaigh GAA Club Notes

November 17, 2014

Senior Footballers

Our senior footballers made their first appearance in the Munster Club competition with a home tie against Cork Intermediate Champions Valley Rovers.

Played at a cold Gaelic Grounds on Sunday we began well and took the lead through Kieran Daly point.

The visitors looking particularly dangerous up front tacked on a few scores of their own and mid way through the half had a goal to lead 1-3 to 0-2.

However in true Na Piarsaigh fashion we battled back with points from Evan Egan and Eoin Hogan before County minor Kieran Daly rifled to the net to level the score before the break. We trailed by a solitary point 1-5 to 1-4 at the break.

The second half we worked extremely hard but our opponents were finding scores a little easier to find.

Further second half scores from Ronan McKenna, Alan Dempsey and Eoin Hogan were not enough to see us through.

Some very good performances throughout the field with Eoin Hogan, Cian Coady and Kevin Nolan in top form

A very good battling performance from an ever improving young team.

A learning curve no doubt and one we hope will stand to them next season in the senior ranks.

Final Score: Na Piarsaigh 1-8  Valley Rovers 1-11

Team: Brendan Donnelly, Alan Finnegan, Cian Coady, Dean McLoughlin, Mark Buckley, Kevin Nolan(capt), peter Hodnett, Eoghan Kehilly, William O Donoghue, Brian Shannon, Aaron Costelloe, Eoin Hogan, Evan Egan, Ronan McKenna, Kieran Daly
