Ciaran Carey believes Lixnaw "could have gone all the way".
The Kerry champions exited the Munster club IHC with a three-point loss to Bruff of Limerick last weekend and Carey was disappointed for his players after the final whistle:
"We left the game after us if you want to call a spade a spade," the Treaty County legend states in The Kerryman.
"We had them on the rack with the second goal. Looking at the bigger picture, it was a Munster club final in my opinion.
"I genuinely believe this team could have gone on all the way this year, so I am disappointed because I thought they underperformed. We weren't ruthless enough up front when the opportunities came our way."
