U21 County Championship
Fr. Caseys 2-06 Ballybrown 1-09
Fr. Casey's U21's began their 2014 campaign against Ballybrown on Friday evening and it turned out to be a very close affair. Daniel Daly got the scoring underway with the first point of the game before Ballybrown hit back at the other end to leave it a point apiece. Adrian Enright then scored the next point for Fr. Casey's before he scored a fantastic goal to give his team a four point advantage. Daniel Daly added to this with two points of his own to solidify the position but just before half time, Ballybrown responded with two late frees to keep them in touch at the break. Ballybrown came out fighting at the start of the second half and immediately scored a goal. The pressure then mounted on the Abbeyfeale men as Ballybrown followed this with three points in a row. Adrian Enright stopped the rot by adding another point to his tally before Cormac Roche got Fr. Casey's second goal to leave his team a point ahead. Ballybrown went on the attack again however and scored an equalizing point. Almost immediately though Roche once again gave his side a one point lead but again Ballybrown worked the ball to their forwards who managed to win a free which they converted to leave the scores deadlocked at the finish. It was a tough game as Ballybrown were a very physical and skillful team and this game should stand to the players as they face St. John's in the next round.
