Senior Football League Final 2013
Our senior footballers were in action last Thursday evening against Fr Casey's to contest the long awaited 2013 League Final. A lack of match practice and missing many regulars was very much evident on the night and Sean Finns went down to a heavy defeat. It begs the question why the league campaigns can't be closed out within the calendar year and during the active season when teams have their full panel of players and are at the peak of fitness. Having said all that, it is the same for both sides and congratulations to Fr Casey's on their success.
U21 Football Premier Championship
2013 was a great year for our club with one of the highlights being the winning of the Premier U21 football championship. As reigning county champions, we will begin the defense of our title on 24th October 2014 against Ahane. The combination team from Sean Finns and Cappagh/Kilcornan have a huge task in hand to retain the title. Games will be on Friday night under lights for five successive weeks. The full list of group-2 games is as follows:
Friday 24th Oct, Rathkeale/Cappagh v Ahane in Knocklong 8.00pm
Friday 31st Oct, Rathkeale/Cappagh v Newcastlewest in Mick Neville Park 8.15pm
Friday 7th Nov, Rathkeale/Cappagh v St Kierans in Mick Neville Park 6.45pm
Friday 14th Nov, Rathkeale/Cappagh v Bruff
Friday 21st Nov, Rathkeale/Cappagh v Shamrocks.
Group-1 consists of Oola, Athea/Mountcollins, Ballybrown, Black & Whites, Fr Caseys & St Johns.
The top team from both groups earns an automatic semi-final spot while 2nd  from one group plays 3rd from the other group in both quarter finals. All to play for and if the competition turns out anywhere near as good as the 2013 version it will be worth watching.

Scrap Metal
There's an old saying that says "It's an ill wind that blows no good". Maybe the storms of the spring have increased the possibility of scrap metal in the area. We would like take this opportunity to remind our friends and supporters that the club has an on-going scrap metal collection operation in place. Contact James O'Connor or any committee member if you have anything to donate. Collection can be arranged if necessary.
