County Junior A Quarter Final
Glin 2-12
Murroe-Boher 2-06

We travelled to the Gaelic Grounds last Tuesday night after the original Rhebogue venue was changed due to a bereavement. It was Glin who flew out of the blocks and dominated the opening exchanges and despite playing against the breeze, we led by 1-5 to no score after 20 minutes. Paul Sheahan led the way with a well taken goal and two points from tight angles, with further points coming from Pádraig Scanlon and Mark Culhane (2) and we could have been out of sight but for a number of wides. Murroe-Boher came more into the game and had some decent possession towards the end of the half, kicking 3 frees, to leave the half-time score 1-5 to 0-3.

We really took command of the game after the half time interval. Tommy Culhane's piercing solo run set up Pádraig Scanlon for a goal chance but he was hauled to the ground by the Murroe-Boher custodian. Mark made no mistake with the resultant spot kick, rifling the ball to the back of the net. Mark then followed up with 3 fine points from distance before our opponents responded with 2 pointed frees of their own. As the game approached the final 10 minutes further points by Paul, Pádraig, Darren and substitute Gary Culhane gave us a comfortable 12 point lead. However two lapses in concentration by our lads gifted two goals to Murroe-Boher and there were a few more nervy moments before the final whistle was blown. The final score was Glin 2-12 Murroe-Boher 2-6. While there were many positives to take from the game, we know that we cannot afford to make any more errors in the challenging games that lie ahead.
