Ahane GAA Club Notes

Ahane reach County Premier Minor Hurling Final.
Last Wednesday night at the Gaelic Grounds after a tough and intense battle against Doon Ahane came out on top and reached the county premier minor hurling final on a scoreline Ahane 1-13 Doon 1-12. Ahane have not been in the county minor final since 1992. This was a very close affair with the result going either way with minutes to go. Ahane were first off the blocks and were 1--2 to a 0-01 after 10 minutes and then Doon drew level. After drawing level score were at a premium with the sides level on numerous occasions. With 10 mins to go the sides were level and with both sets of mentors pulling out all the stops Doon took the lead. thankfully 2 late points from Ahane and they prevailed and reach the county minor hurling final. Ahane had many heroes on the night as every player played his part but special mention must go Paddy and Tom Morrissey on there splendid performance to Mark O Hallorhan on his display of hooking blocking and when the defence under pressure went back to assist them and came away with the ball and to Ciaran Barry who the mentors gave the task to police Doon danger man and at 15 years of age turned in a masterful display and stuffed out the threat. Family Night at the Dogs
Following our successful night at the dogs there was no winner of the €500 Buster and the committee decided like other years when there was no winner that 5 names of people who purchased tickets would be drawn and each winner get €100 . On Thursday night last in the clubhouse the draw took place and the club would again like to thank everyone who supported this fundraiser
