Gaelic for Mothers & Others: Gaelic for Mothers and Others (G4MOs)
In glorious sunshine on Saturday evening Monaleen was looking fantastic and that was just the start. We hosted our first blitz in Gaelic for Mothers and Others which included St Ailbes, Murroe/Boher and two Monaleen Teams. Well done to both the Monaleen Red and Monaleen White teams who played magnificently. It was a tremendous evening of fun and entertainment. Despite the stipulation that these are for fun and scores are not kept this in no way reduces the innate competitiveness of these ladies. As we had two teams we were played without subs and the tenacity of our ladies was very impressive. We got some great scores and finished strongly in each game. Thank you the all who brought the excellent food which helped with the "After match analysis" in the clubhouse which long outlasted the length of the matches. Thank you also to Kieran O Flaherty & Morgan O Sullivan who refereed the matches.
G4MO is new in Limerick this year and the skill levels developed by all teams over that period is a credit to all involved. We are still open to new members. Training time is 7.30 - 8.30 in the Clubhouse field. Contact Caroline O'Kane at 087 6448807 if you wish to come along or just turn up. We look forward to November 9th when Murroe host a blitz.
U14 Girls - All Ireland - Kilmacud 7s: Our girls had a brilliant day at the All Ireland - Kilmacud 7s on Saturday last. They kicked off with a great win against Antrim Champions, St Brigids, and followed that up with victory over All Ireland Feile Champions Foxrock Cabinteely. Our girls lost their final group match against Glanmire of Cork but still qualified for the Cup last 16. Here they faced Kilkerrin Clonberne of Galway. Our girls dominated the match but in controversial circumstances ended up on the losing side by one point. It was a scarcely deserved defeat, but thanks to the very sporting nature of the contest our girls took defeat on the chin and were well satisfied with how they acquitted themselves against seriously talented opposition.
U10, U8 (and U6!) are taking part in the annual Ahane blitz for these age groups next Saturday morning. There will be no training on Sunday morning.
Under 16's Good luck to our u16's who play Monagea in the Under 16 B Cup County Final on Sunday. See the Ladies Football Page for details of the time and venue.
After next Saturday, the 2004 girls will graduate to the U12 set up and we will set up the new 2015 age groups. Best of luck girls!

We were pitched into a very strong and competitive group alongside Naas, Kilmacud Crokes and Thurles. We put in three great displays of committed hurling before qualifying to play Wexford team Gorey in the final play-off match. After a very sporting and high quality game of hurling we lost out to a very late goal from a very strong Gorey team. MONALEEN CAMOGIE:
On Saturday October 4th, Monaleen U10's were invited to a blitz in Ballina, Co Tipperary. There were 5 teams in attendance with Monaleen holding the hosts Ballina A to a nil-all draw in the first match. In the second game Monaleen put on a very fine performance against the eventual overall winners Nenagh. Nenagh scored an early goal but Monaleen gave a very good account of themselves eventually losing 1-0. Third up were Cappamore, with Monaleen taking a very early 2-0 lead. Three games back to back eventually took its toll in the 2nd half and a tired Monaleen left Cappamore back into the game to win 3-2 at full time. Goals scored by Laura Southern. In the final match Monaleen put on a fine display beating Ballina B 5-0. Goals scored by Emily O' Halloran and Aoife Sheehan. Well done to all involved. Girls in attendance were: Ellie Madden, Emily O'Halloran, Isabelle O'Riordan, Abi Houlihan, Caoimhe Brady, Laura Southern, Ellen Hosey, Kim Ivory, Aoife O'Brien, Clare Moloney, Aoife Sheehan, Katie Sheehan, Faye Coffey and Amy Burke.
