Ballybrown club notes

October 13, 2014

JUVENILE AGM With activity winding down its time  to look back on 2014 and all the great work that was done and thank each and everyone who helped in any way throughout the year. Our Juvenile club are holding their AGM on Wednesday 22 October in the club(time to be confirmed). We would appreciate your presence and input on the night and hopefully we will be even bigger and stronger as we face into 2015 with renewed optimism.

UNDER 13s We played two matches again this week where we played NaPiarsaigh in hurling on Monday evening in Clarina and what a game of hurling it turned out to be. NaPiarsaigh started the stronger and were 1-04 up before we registered our first score. we replied with three points and then a goal to leave just one point between the teams. NaPiarsaigh had the last say of the half with a goal to leave the half time score 2-04 to 1-03 to NaPiarsaigh.  Luke O Connor scored a goal at the start of the second half before two points from NaPiarsaigh saw them extend their lead to three points. Two goals from Luke O Connor and Harry Hannon and now Ballybrown took the lead for the first time. In the last few minutes of hectic hurling we conceded a late goal and the game finished level Ballybrown 4-03 NaPiarsaigh 3-06.  On Thursday we played a very strong Abbeyfeale in football in Clarina. Ballybrown were equal to Abbeyfeale but it was their football know how that told in the end. Scores from Barry O Connor and Ben Adams 1-00 each Fintan O Sullivan 0-02 and Orin Garvey 0-01 wasn't enough on the night but this is a fine bunch of youngsters and will be competing at the top end of their competitions next year and in years to come.

UNDER 6 HURLING The famed Ahane paid us a visit on Friday evening. Both teams had big numbers of young hurlers with Ballybrown fielding no less than thirty one under 6s. The panals were split into three teams and they all played one another in what was a very enjoyable evening in beautiful sunshine. Great credit must go to the coaches and parents to get such large numbers at such an early age.

PARISH LEAGUE One of the highlights of the year every year is our annual end of season Parish League which is on on Saturday 18 October. First up at 1pm our under 12s play for the O Grady Cup. At 2pm its the turn of our under 6s to play in their parish league. At 2.45pm our under 8s and under 10s play in four teams for the Jacko and Margaret cup. The medal presentation follows at 4pm and at 5pm Johnny Hogan will provide the entertainment.
