Junior Hurlers

Congratulations to our junior hurlers who were crowned City Junior hurling champions on Saturday after a tough battle against Patrickswell in the Gaelic Grounds.
Playing with the breeze in the first half we got some good scores from Evan Egan(3), Thomas Grimes(2), Damien Quigley, Paul Downes and Paul McNamara(3) and Kieran Daly to lead at the break 0-12 to 1-5.
Our defence was very solid throughout the game, superbly marshalled by Josh o Halloran at center back and backed up well by David Lynch and Brian Shannon
Our midfield duo of Mark Ryan and Kieran Daly worked tirelessly for the team while up front it was veteran Damien Quigley who showed well along with nippy Evan Egan and Peter Casey.
Overall a good team performance and good preparation for a County quarter final versus Staker Wallace in the coming weeks.
Team: Evan Condon, Brian Shannon, Brian Hartnett, Gordon Brown, David Lynch, Josh O Halloran, Paul Downes(0-1), Kieran Daly(0-2), Mark Ryan, Thomas Grimes(0-2), Paul McNamara(0-4,3f),Peter Casey(0-4,1f),Pat McCarthy(0-1), Damien Quigley(0-1), Evan Egan(0-3).
Final Score: Na Piarsaigh 0-18 Patrickswell 1-12

Intermediate Footballers

Our Intermediate Footballers were in County Semi Final action on Sunday when they took on Cappamore in Caherconlish.
We began the game extremely well keeping possession and scoring some lovely points to race into a 4point lead.
Our midfield pairing of William O Donoghue and Eoghan Kehilly were particularly dominant fielding some great ball.
Captain Kevin Nolan marshalled the backs well with Mark Buckley and Peter Hodnett surging forward at every opportunity.
Our opponents slowly worked themselves in the game and created several goal chances which were snuffed out by Brendan Donnelly in goals.
We led at half time 0-7 to 0-2 and may have been further ahead but for some poor shooting.
In the second half Cappamore hit a purple patch and were causing a lot of difficulty for our defence.
It was nip and tuck entering the final quarter when lady luck smiled on us.
A defensive mix up between two Cappamore defenders allowed Aaron Costelloe the easiest of tasks to tap the ball into the net from close range to give us a three point lead and one which we held to the finish.
Overall a good team performance and we now look forward tothe County Final where our opponents will be St Senans.
Team: Brendan Donnelly, Dean McLoughlin, Cian Coady, Alan Finnegan, Mark Buckley, Kevin Nolan(capt), Peter Hodnett, Eoghan Kehilly, William O Donoghue(0-1), Brian Shannon(0-2), Aaron Costelloe(1-2), Eoin Hogan(0-2), Evan Egan, Kieran Daly(0-1), Noel Shannon(0-1).
