Ballybrown club notes
September 22, 2014CITY JUNIOR A HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP Ballybrown were beaten by NaPiarsaigh in the city semi final by 1-17 to 3-07 on Sunday in Mungret. The first half was evenly contested by two evenly matched teams and at half time Ballybrown led by a single point 2-04 to 0-09 thanks to two goals from Killian Gavin and Killian Cliffe and points from Andrew Cliffe 0-02 and Patrick Hartigan 0-02. Andrew Cliffe put us two points to the good early in the second half but that was short lived as NaPiarsaigh scored three points in a row to put themselves into the lead when William Stanners who was having a good game was sent off. NaPiarsaigh took full advantage of the space and piled on the pressure and scored another 1-02 to put six points between the teams. Andrew Cliffe again replied for Ballybrown but two points for NaPiarsaigh opened up the gap to seven points. Kenny Power scored a point for Ballybrown and then a goal from Brian Hartigan and we were back within a goal of NaPiarsaigh with time left on the clock. Unfortunately we failed to score in that hectic last couple of minutes and when NaPiarsaigh scored from a free to put four points between the teams there was no way back for Ballybrown. The last action of the day saw Patrick Hartigan being sent off.
UNDER 13 HURLING LEAGUE Ballybrown play Patrickswell on Monday 29 September at 6pm in Ballybrown
SENIOR COUNTY CUP Ballybrown v Patrickswell still no details of when the semi final of this competition is to take place, it will be played either this weekend or next so watch out for information over the coming days.
