Limerick managers appointed without opposition

John Kiely and Leo O'Connor were appointed as Limerick U21 and minor hurling managers respectively last night.

County board delegates ratified the pair as successors to Ciaran Carey and Brian Ryan, despite vice-chairman Pat Heffernan's plea for clubs to "go against the officers on this and stand up and be counted".

Limerick legend Carey was critical of county board officials after he was removed from the U21 post after just one season, while the decision to replace Ryan after he guided the Treaty County to back-to-back Munster minor titles and an All-Ireland final appearance earlier this month was also hugely contentious.
