Hard luck to the Limerick Minor Hurling team and management after losing the All Ireland final to Kilkenny on Sunday. Special mention to our own 4 lads involved, all who saw game time and contributed significantly to a very special occasion. It was a close game and we were still in with a shout right up to the final whistle. Final Score LIMERICK 0-19 Kilkenny 2-17. Well done on a great year Andrew, Lorcan, Ed and Jamie.

Gaelic for Mothers & Others: Our Gaelic for Mothers and Others has returned. Times have changed as the nights begin to draw in - 7.30 - 8.30 in the Clubhouse field. New recruits are always welcome, and we now have over 25 members!
U16 Girls: The girls have been training during the summer in preparation for the County Championship, which kicks off on Monday, 8th September with a home quarter final against Feoghanagh/Castlemahon. The girls played Fermoy U16s two weeks ago and beat the Cork side who were understrength on the day, by 11-9 to 4-6. The whole squad trained together for the first time last week, as all the girls returned from holidays.
U16 All Ireland 7s: The girls took part in this competition on Saturday, 6th September. It was hosted by Kilmurray Ilbrickane in West Clare, and organised extremely well - from neutral umpires and pitchside officials at every match to good quality meals at the Quilty Tavern. Our girls were drawn in a very tough group, but won the group with wins against Eoghan Roe of Derry and former All Ireland Champions Claregalway, and a draw against West Clare Gaels. Despite trailing in the last 16 match by 7 points at half time, the girls came back and beat Aherlow of Tipperary in that match. The girls had run out of steam by the time they played Corofin of Galway in the All Ireland Quarter Final, but deserve huge credit for finishing in the last 8 of 32 of the best club teams in Ireland. To cap it off, Caoimhe Lyons won player of the tournament! Panel: Emma Campbell, Chloe Tobin, Anna Burke, Kate Cosgrave, Grace Donovan, Jane Clohessy, Aising Doyle (captain), Annie Russell, Caoimhe Lyons, Sarah Shortt.
U10 and U8: Training resumes for these age groups next Sunday, from 11-12 at the clubhouse field. Training is for girls born in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and we will welcome new 2008 girls this Autumn as well. New members welcome!

U11 Hurling: Training continues on Fridays in Peafield 6pm. Our U11H squad, mixed with some budding U10 players, played their final group league game as Monaleen "Whites" in the U12 hurling league away to Ballybrown. In what was a very exciting game, onlookers witnessed a great display of hurling and an intense team effort by both sides. Ballybrown edged the first half with a 2-1 to 2-0 lead. For a spell, the weather turned wet and dark and, undeterred, the teams continued their highly spirited work rate illustrated by a remarkable amount of tackling, hooking and blocking. With hardly a breath to spare, Monaleen edged the game with a 4-2 to 3-4 win. Well done to all players on both sides for a great display of sport. Playing for Monaleen were Darragh Connaughton, David Crehan, Dylan Crowe, Eoin Dignam, Eric Stritch, John Foley, Joseph Fitzgerald, Lochlann McHale, Mark Naughton, Max Ivory, Rory Doyle, Shane Twomey, Tony Power.

Juvenile Registration - Registration and subscription fees for 2014-15
Monaleen Juvenile Club is introducing on-line registration for the coming year. Having researched a number of possible suppliers, we have selected a vendor with an excellent track record who already have some 700 clients nationwide, with member registration systems and club lotto schemes being their core products.
The Juvenile club is increasing its membership costs for the coming season. The new rates will be €90 for one juvenile member, €160 for two juvenile members and €200 for three or more juvenile members. These revised subscription levels will include what was up to now an additional fee for external facility hire. Therefore for the majority of our juvenile members, the increase in fees for the coming year is a net figure of €20.
The sole reason for revising our subscriptions fees is cost. This is the first increase in fees since 2006 and in that time the expenses of running a growing club have increased to a point where the Juvenile club is no longer breaking even, which is our chief financial objective. With these increased subscription levels we will continue to run the club successfully, providing coaching, skills and personal development to almost 400 kids from ages 6 to 16.
The on-line registration facility will be available to from mid-September. There will be two payment options:
Option 1 - Pay balance in full
Option 2 - Pay four equal payments. First payment, day of registration | second payment, day of registration plus one month |third payment, day of registration plus two months |fourth payment, day of registration plus three months. There will be no surcharges for choosing instalment plan.
The registration system will be accessible from the Monaleen GAA website in the coming days. This transition to on-line registration will eliminate the former paper-based method.
