Intermediate Camogie
The girls took on Murroe Boher in LIT in what could be described as horrible conditions.
This was a very close affair with scores at a premium.
Our team were strong through every line and none epitomised the spirit more than full back Aideen McNamara who was excellent from start to finish.
She was ably assisted by her sister Sinead at center back along with Christina O Shea and Jane Wilson at midfield.
Upfront we had the hard working Gemma Healy to compliment Aoife Wilson and Katie Campbell who contributed the majority of our scores.
We led at the break 2-4 to 2-3 with Jane Wilson and katie Campbell scoring the goals.
Playing into the teeth of the driving rain in the second half we battled superbly and showed great team spirit and heart.
Final Score: Na Piarsaigh 2-8 Murroe Boher 2-4
Team: Laura o Neill, Fiona Shannon, Aideen McNamara, Sarah Connors, Roisin McNamara, Sinead McNamara, Olivia barrett, Catherina O Shea, Jane Wilson, Gemma Healy, Aoife Wilson, Jane Kirwan, Leanne Egan, Katie Campbell, Ciara Hogan
Under 12 Hurlers
Last Thursday evening our U/12 hurlers played Wolfe Tones in a great game.
Wolfe Tones had their pitch in great condition and both teams played with great skill and tenacity throughout. Na Piarsaigh got off to a great start with some great hurling from Dillon Skehan and fine scores from Patrick O' Neill.
Wolfe Tones came more & more into the game as the first half progressed, however some outstanding clearing and tackling by John Fitzgerald , Cathal Hassett and Stephen Mitchell prevented Na Piarsaigh from conceding many scores.
Adam Long was also excellent in this 1st half period, giving an exhibition of intelligent corner back hurling . We went in at half time with a well deserved 4 point lead.
Wolfe Tones started the 2nd half very well and raced into a 1 point lead with some excellent scores . Na Piarsaigh fought back very well indeed and finished the game with a very worthy draw. Charles Hogan , Frankie Naughton & Andrew Stack played very well while Cian Brosnan had an excellent game at half forward. John Fitzgerald was excellent at half back and both Marcus Hogan & James Naughton continued their recent great form with a very solid displays. Well done all.
