It has been an immensely busy couple of weeks for St Patricks Underage teams. First our U12 squads took part in hurling and football blitzes in both Pairc Ui Chaoimh (Football) and Semple Stadium (Hurling). The opportunity to play in these iconic stadiums is one that every player looks forward to.
U12 Trip to Pairc Ui Chaoimh:
During their trip to Pairc Ui Chaoimh the U12 footballers took part in scheduled matches against Nemo Rangers of Cork, Castlehaven and Glenworth of Cork. The boys played exceptionally well and were a match for their Cork opponents. Following the games the boys were taken on a tour of the stadium by Cork dual star Eoin Cadogain. Eoin explained the detailed preparation and gruelling training that Cork footballers do as they prepare for a match and the upcoming season. The day was finished off with a well-earned stop in Supermacs for the boys. Well done to all those that represented the club and to the parents and coaches that travelled with the boys. Many thanks to GAA games development for organising this and for providing the boys with this great opportunity to play in this famous stadium.
U12 Trip to Semple Stadium:
Semple Stadium is recognised as the home of hurling. With the pitch in great condition and with 17 players and a large number of parents along to support, the boys took part in matches against Adare, Mount Sion, Naomh Bride and Ennistymon. The Saints were competitive in all games and scored some amazing scores throughout the matches. It was great to see the boys play with skill and tenacity throughout the matches. Following the games the boys got a tour of the famous venue from Tipperary star Dennis Maher. Well done to all players that represented their club and to the many parents that came along to support us. Many thanks to GAA games development for organising this and for providing the boys with this great opportunity to play in this famous stadium.
Cul Camp:
Last week was the clubs Cul Camp. With 40 boys and girls arriving on Monday the camp was an excellent week of fun and games for the boys and girls. On Thursday the boys/ girls received their Cul Camp gear from the Camp Coaches, Limerick Minor Hurlers Ronan Lynch and Tom Morrissey and Limerick Camogie stars Katie Campbell and Niamh Ryan. On Friday Limerick Senior Hurler Aaron Murphy arrived at the camp to sign jerseys and talk to everyone. Many thanks to all the coaches, to Aaron and to Games Development for making this year's camp so much fun for all the boys and girls. Well done to all boys and girls on a great camp this year.
U14 Hurling Trip to Cavan:
536 km travelled 19 players, 15 adult supporters/ coaches travelling. Three hurling matches played and won. Two All Ireland hurling semi-finals taken in along the way (with Limerick minors winning 1). 140 minutes or thereabouts of hurling played. 19 goals and 25 points scored, 1 inaugural hurling cup won. Several songs sung badly. Numerous new friends made and old acquaintances renewed. The weekend stats for St Patricks U14 hurling team who took part in St Feilims G.A.A. hurling festival this weekend. An excellent festival a great weekend and a truly talented bunch of hurlers. Many thanks to players, parents and coaches and of course to all in St Feilims for making this weekend one of the highlights of our year.
