Ballybrown club notes

July 28, 2014
SENIOR HURLING Ballybrown 2-23 Clonlara 3-12 played in Clonlara on Thursday evening this was only a challenge but it gave all who were there a huge lift as we hurled so well on the night. Clonlara opened the scoring with a point and this proved to be the only time they led in the match. Ballybrown led 1-14 o 2-06 at half time with Clonlara's second goal coming from the penilty spot. A point each at the start of the second half and then a second penalty for Clonlara had the Ballybrown lead back to two points. Ballybrown raised their game again and scored 1-05 to 0-01 to open the lead out to nine points with fifteen minutes left. Both teams swapped points to the finish with Clonlara getting five to our four.

MINOR FOOTBALL Ballybrown0-08 Crecora 0-09 Played in Ballybrown this was our last outing in Minor football for 2014. Honours were even at half time as a point from Killian Gavin and two from TJ O Connor were cancelled out by three points from Crecora. Scores from Mikey Davoran Killian Gavin TJ O Connor and two for Niall Quane just wasnt enough on the night.

JUNIOR A HURLING Ballybrown 3-18 Mungret 0-11 Played in Rathbane this was a very one sided match with Ballybrown always in control. Ballybrown raced into a ten point lead in the first ten minutes 1-07 with the goal coming from Brian Hartigan before Alec Potter (son of Mathew ) scored a point for Mungret. Ballybrown got a second goal from William Stanners when he struck a bullet off the ground from twenty yards. The half time score read 2-09 to 0-05 to Ballybrown. Mungret staged a mini come back at the start of the second half and scored three points on the trot but Brian Hartigan struck back with our third goal to end the game as a contest. Ballybrown were missing five or six players and if they get them all back their is a serious team there.

UNDER 14 HURLING On Wednesday night last our under 14 team lost to a very good naoimh brid team. The game was very close in the first half with just a few points between them at half time. In the second half naoimh brid took control and won on a score line of 4-10 to 3-5

UNDER 12 HURLING Ballybrown had three great wins against Kilgarvan (Kerry) Caherline (Limerick) and Newmarket on Fergus.(Clare) in the Munster hurling blitz in the Gaelic grounds on Saturday, We were given a tour of the grounds and Aaron Cunningham (Clare U21) spoke to the players afterwards to cap off a great day out.

JACKO AND MARGARET There was a special night on friday night at the club as we celebrated another great mile stone in the lives of Jacko and Margaret. their 70th birthdays. These two have given incredible service to Ballybrown GAA club. the Regional coursing club, Digging and lining graves and to the parish over many many years so it was fitting to see such a large croud there. Jacko didnt take this opportunity to announce his retirement and Margaret said she would be around as long as she was needed so I take that to meen we will have these stalwarts for many years to come. Happy Birthday to both of you and many many more of them.

Congratulations to Cian Hedderman and both Limerick teams on reaching the Allireland semi finals
