LIMERICK JUNIORS WIN THROUGH TO ALL-IRELAND FINAL
Limerick 1-10 (0-6) Kerry 1-5 (1-2)
Liberty Insurance All-Ireland Junior A Semi-Final
Venue: Newcastle West
Time: Saturday 20th July 3.45
Limerick won through to the All-Ireland Junior A Final with a battling 1-10 to 1-5 win over a determined Kerry side in a sweltering Newcastle West on Sunday. The win sets up an August 24th clash with a Carlow side who won their place in the final by beating Offaly by 5-15 to 3-8. This was the two sides fourth meeting this year and the two teams familiarity with each other was evident in the tense and hard fought character of the game.
Limerick got off to a great start with Sarah Collins pointing inside the first minute. This continued for the first 10 mins as Donna Mulcahy, Muireann Creamer, Sinead McNamara and Collins again pointed to open a 0-5 to 0-0 score. Limerick's midfield duo of Sinead McNamara and Katie Hennessey were dominant. But Kerry began to make headway down the right hand side and Jessica Fitzell pointed to open the KIngdom's account on 12 mins and 5 minutes later she found the back of the net to make it a one point game just after the midway point in the half. Caitrín De Bhál converted a free to widen Limerick's lead but Sara Murphy (who plays her club camogie with Newcastle West) converted a Kerry free to leave the score at the break Limerick 0-6 Kerry 1-2.
Immediately after the break Caitrín De Bhál converted another free to widen the gap again but Kerry levelled the score with two frees from Sara Murphy. Donna Mulcahy scored another point to restore Limerick's lead. But it was on the quarter hour that the crucial score of the game came when an excellent pass from midfield found Muireann Creamer who bore down on goal and buried it in the back of the net. But the drama wasn't over as with 10 minutes to go Donna Mulcahy was red-carded and Sara Murphy converted the resultant free.
Down to 14 players Limerick battled hard with captain Noreen Barry and the excellent Leanne Browne impressive in defence. Lisa Scanlon converted a long range free to restore the gap to 4 points. Then with 5 minutes to go Kerry also had a player sent off for a high challenge. This eased the pressure on Limerick and as the game headed into injury time substitute Mairead Clancy put a point over from the left hand side to leave the score at the final whistle Limerick 1-10 Kerry 1-5.
A very entertaining tight encounter but ultimately the range of Limerick's attacking threat proved too much for a Kerry side over-reliant on Sara Murphy's excellence from the placed ball.

TIPPERARY TOO STRONG FOR LIMERICK U16s
Limerick 0-5 (0-3) Tipperary 3-17 (2-9)
All-Ireland U16A Championship Group 1 Round 3
Venue: Newcastle West
Time: Saturday 20th July 2pm
Limerick's U16 team faced a uphill battle to salvage something from their last game of the season. But ultimately a Tipperary side that have beaten all-comers so far this year were too much and they ran out deserving winners by 3-17 to 0-5.
It was a game that Limerick were going to have to get a few breaks to get into and none were forthcoming on the day. Tipperary dominated from the off taking points steadily to lead by six points to one Leah Riordan free for Limerick at the halfway point. Limerick had a few goal chances but a combination of some excellent saves and strong defending meant that none were converted. Instead it was Tipperary who scored the games first goal. Tipp continued to build their score through the half and Limerick were to score only two further points one a free from Leah Riordan and the other a point from play from Caoimhe Lyons. Tipperary scored another goal in injury to leave Limerick with a mountain to climb in the second half.
Ultimately it was to be too much for Limerick as Tipperary 1-8 to two Leah Riordan frees to run out deserving winners. A tough day for Limerick but the girls battled hard and just came up against a team at the top of their game. All credit to the players and management who put in great work throughout the year and I'm sure many of these girls have bright futures in the game and will be seen again in the Green of Limerick.
