West Senior Football Championship: St. Kieran's VS Drom/Broadford
The senior footballers face county champions Drom/Broadford this Saturday in the quarter final of the West Senior Championship. The game throws in at 6.30 in Newcastlewest.

West Junior 'B' Football League:
The junior footballers get their season underway on Thursday evening in the opening round of the West League in a repeat of last season's opener against Ballysteen. The game takes place in Coolcappagh at 7pm. All available players are to attend.
Scrap - Metal Collection:
St. Kieran's GAA hopes to run a scrap-metal collection within the next three weeks in order to generate much needed funds for the coming year. We will have a central drop-off point on the day where you can drop off all unwanted scrap-metal. If anyone has any unwanted scrap in the aftermath of the recent storm damage that they want to dispose of please contact Sean Windle (087-2520227) or Ivan Neary (087-6577541).

Membership 2014:
Membership for the coming year will be €20 per adult, €10 per student and €5 per juvenile. It is vital that each player pays their member as we will be strictly enforcing in 2014 that no player can play until they have paid their membership. Each player will be provided with a membership form in the coming week which can be returned at training or a club officer. By paying their membership the club will cover 50% of player's physiotherapy bills. In relation to physiotherapy an injured player must consult with their respective management and the club secretary before arranging a physiotherapy session for the coming year. In addition membership entitles you to apply for tickets for Intercounty games for the coming year.

Club/School Link:
We are currently looking for a coach who would be available to coach gaelic football in the local primary schools as part of the club/school link. This is an extremely beneficial programme for all parties as it provides our younger players with a great opportunity to enhance their skills in advance of the playing season and also entices younger players to take up the game for the first time. Anyone who may be interested in the position is asked to contact club secretary Ivan Neary (087-6577541) as soon as possible.

Feile:
Congratulations to the U14 footballers who had an excellent victory over a strong Monaleen side on Sunday afternoon in the Semi final of the Feilé Peil and will now meet Galbally in the coming weeks in the County Feile where the winner will go forward to represent Limerick in the All Ireland in Galway this summer. Also congratulations to the Old Mill U14 Ladies who had an excellent win on Sunday evening defeating St. Ailbe's in the Ladies Feile final and will now go forward to the All Ireland this summer in Galway.

St Kieran's through to U14 Feile County Final
Last Sunday in Mick Neville Park we played our county semi-final against Monaleen, we knew this game was going to be tough as Monaleen have proved strong opposition over the years.  There was a strong wind blowing down the field and we played against it in the first half. Monaleen started very strongly and caught us for pace immediately. With better pace in a few positions plus the wind they started to open up a considerable lead. We knew Monaleen would hit us hard and fast, so defence was crucial from player 1 to 15. By half time, Monaleen were 2-5 to 1 goal up, a lead of 8 points.

Half time came and a welcome break, we knew the boys had in them and we knew that our goal in the first half would help us before the match was finished. So out we went for the second half, in went the ball and our comeback began. We put on some fresh legs in the second half and bit by bit we clawed back the deficit. Pretty soon we were back to within 2 points and then we got a penalty. This was stuck in the back of the net. From their kick-out we got the ball and put it over the bar. 2 points up and about 3 minutes to go. Monaleen threw everything at us and we held on well. In the dying seconds Monaleen got a free which brought it back to 1 point, which was the way it finished. A final score of 4- 4 to 3- 6.

This was a great result and one the boys deserved. We are through to the county Final against Galbally which will not be easy, but a nice position to be in, a Feile county Final. Training as normal this Wednesday, full attendance required as we have plenty of work to do!!
On a final note, congratulations to a fantastic Old Mill U14 girls football team who won their own Feile county final in style last Sunday.  Well done girls, wouldn't it be great if the boys follow your lead!

Togged out on the day were Eamonn Ambrose, Aidan Brouder, Michael Conlon, Denis Cronin, Evan Donovan, Dan Duggan, Jack Enright, Edward Fitzgerald, Rory Forrestal, John Hayes, Eoghan Heffernan, Sean Kelly, Liam Kennedy(Captain), Ciaran Kiely, Liam Liston, Eoin McEnery, Tomás Treacy. Shane Murphy, Michael Murphy, Charlie O' Doherty, Aaron O'Connor ,Jordan Ryan, Michael Shanahan and Injured on the day was Dylan Moloney.
