Dromcollogher/Broadford GAA Notes By: Gareth Meaney For Wednesday and Thursday 10th and 11th of December 2008: A HISTORIC DAY FOR DROMCOLLOGHER/ BRAODFORD Results: Dromcollogher/ Broadford (Limerick) 0-6 Kilmurry/ Ibrickane (Clare) 0-5 This was a Brilliant game of football played there last Sunday in the Gaelic Grounds, Limerick, in very good conditions for this time of the year and the is very tight game and we came the right side of the game at the end. Congrats and well done once again to Management Team of John Brudair, Ned English, Mike Quiad, Mike Fahy, Garry Noonan, Jim Barry, Christine McCarthy and one and only Maurice McCarthy, Physios Mary O'Keefe and Bridget Downes and the 25 Brilliant panel of players from number 1 right down to number 26. The first score of the game came from a free from Patrick Donnelly for Dromcollogher/ Broadford and then Ordan O'Dwyer replied with a pointed free for Kilmurry/ Ibrickane. Ordan O'Dwyer pointed two more frees for Kilmurry/ Ibrickane and then Michael Reidy pointed a free for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to bring the margin back to one point. Derry McCarthy scored the next point of the game which was one the points of the game for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to bring the game back on level terms just before half time. At half time the sides were level three points apiece. Sean Buckley scored the first point of the second half and this was a great score too to give Dromcollogher/ Broadford back the lead and then Patrick Donnelly put Dromcollogher/ Broadford two points ahead with 15 minutes in the game. Kilmurry/ Ibrickane replied with a pointed free from Ordan O'Dwyer to bring margin back to one point and then Michael Reidy scored another pointed free for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to put 2 points between the sides. Kilmurry/ Ibrickane cut the margin down to one point in injury and this points was score by Declan Callinan and then Kilmurry/ Ibrickane missed their last free of the game to level the sides. The Referee blow his whistle and stadium was in tears of joy and excitement for Dromcollogher/ Broadford history was made the first Limerick club to win the Munster Senior Football Club Championship since Thomond College in 1977. Jimmy O'Gorman chairman of the Munster Council presented the Michael O'Connor trophy to Tom McLoughlin Captain of Dromcollogher/ Broadford. Tom thanked the Management team of John Brudair, Ned English, the quiet Mike and loud Mike, Jim Barry, Christine McCarthy and one the only Maurice McCarthy and all the water carriers on the day and all the supports from County Limerick and North Cork and especially the supports from Dromcollogher and Broadford. Tom gave three rousing cheers to Kilmurry/ Ibrickane thanked them for a very hard fought game. The celebrates continued later into the night, we started in the Broadford with a torch lit parade from Foley Bar's in Broadford to Community Centre in Broadford. Then onto Dromcollogher for another Torch lit parade and this time the players and management team were on a trailer from the Church and up the square and then they we went around the square a few times on the trailer.
