Drom-Broadford boss "over the moon"

December 08, 2008
Dromcollogher-Broadford boss Ned English was ecstatic after his side's historic Munster club football title success. "This is a wonderful day for the club and for Limerick football," the Cork native enthused after thei 0-6 to 0-5 win over Clare's Kilmurry-Ibrickane. "I'm over the moon, it's just a fantastic occasion. It's great for Drom-Broadford - a tiny, tiny community. We're up against a side who won the last five under 21s in their county, so they're a very strong outfit. We wouldn't have that strength, our panel is very tight and short on resources. "They were tremendous out there and grew into the game after a disappointing first half. They were marvellous in the second half. "It is an historic win and compensates for some of the heartbreak endured by Limerick clubs and by the county side. These lads have created history by becoming the first club side to win this title," he added. The new Munster champions will face either Ballinderry or Crossmaglen in the All-Ireland semi-final next February, and English promised that they will give it their best shot. "They have something now that can never be taken away from them. The next game now will be a totally new experience and we'll practice hard for that. "It's great to be playing football in January and February. They're among the last teams now and that's a tremendous achievement."
