Killeedy Bord na nOg club notes

U10's & U9's

Training Thursday evenings at 6.30 to 7.30 Killeedy ball wall.

U14s

In strong windy conditions, Killeedy U14s played a challenge match, their first of the season, against Bruff last Sunday in Tournafulla. In the first half, our backs were under constant pressure. The draw put us playing against a very strong, first half wind, which confined puck outs to our own back yard. With determination, the Killeedy-Tournafulla backs worked hard to minimize the oppositions clear advantage. The first half ended with a deflated score line for both teams.

In the second half, Jack Sheahan came into range and started to rack up killeedy-tournafulla scores. Bruff however, changed tactics and displayed an exhibition of primary possession. Against the same strong wind, they minimized stick work an hand-passed with precision. Bruff, clear winners at the whistle.

Training continues each Wednesday evening from 6.45 to 8pm in Raheenagh.

U21s

U21 hurling championship Group B Round 2. Tournafola / Killeedy 2-7 Kildimo Pallaskenry 0-12

The Killeedy contingent played a huge role again in this hard fought come back in Pallaskenry yesterday. Man of the match TJ Kelly was spectacular in goals with some amazing saves and long , wind assisted puck outs in the second half that had the opposition under continuous pressure. 2-2 from young full forward Shane  Harnett broke the hearts of the opposition. He is now the leading scorer in the competition His opportunistic goal against all the odds and against the strong  wind late in the first half saved the day ensuring we were  still in it down 1-2 to 0-8 points at half time. Another great point was scored by Jack Long in the first half from corner forward . Other killeedy players now looking at a county quarter final include Ben Mulcahy, Thomas Sheahan, Jamie Hennessy, Aaron kelly, Jack Hennessy ( joint captain ), Seán O Connor, Michael Barrett, Cian White and Eamon Carmody. They will be in action in Feenagh next Sunday at 11 against Belville Gaels in this third and final game of the group stages. Well done to Christopher Moxey and team on two great results so far .

Killeedy GAA and Camogie Healthy Club Project:  "Ireland Lights Up" Thursday's from 7pm, Raheenagh

The hugely popular ‘Ireland Lights Up’ walking initiative returns in January 2020, in partnership with the GAA, Operation Transformation, and Get Ireland Walking.

GAA clubs across the 32 counties will once more ensure ‘Ireland Lights Up’ by turning on their floodlights and hosting community walking groups during the eight-week broadcast period of the hit RTÉ show (which returns to our screens each Wednesday from January 8th to February 26th).

Over 270 clubs participated in Ireland Lights Up in 2019, with a total of 65,000 walkers getting out during the initiative.

The first date for clubs to host ‘Ireland Lights Up’ 2020 is Thursday, January 9th, but this year clubs are free to host their walking groups any, and as many, nights of the week as they want. To find out where your nearest club is, and what night they are hosting their event, see our map and counties dropdown below.

The aim is to make exercise more accessible on the dark winter nights and to offer local communities an opportunity to get together and socialise in a healthy way. Walking is proven to benefit both our physical and mental health.
