October 01, 2019

Rathnew Gaa 1885 is the clubs one and only official Facebook page. Any other page with our name has nothing to do with our club and is run by someone with also nothing to do with our club. Please dislike any other page with our name thanks.

Jerseys and any other club gear are now on sale on the Rathnew shop on the O'Neill's website or just follow the link on our Facebook page

We had no winner of the lotto jackpot on the 23rd September. Numbers 1, 2, 18, 22. We had one match 3, Paul king c/o Doyle's. At the time of writing the jackpot stands at €13,100. Get your tickets from Doyle's, The Arches, The Village Inn, Rockies, Healy's Mini Market, View hair & beauty, Malone's, Dowling's Butchers and Centra every Friday and Saturday evening. Thanks to everyone who supports our lotto.

The nursery continues every Saturday morning at 11.15 and it's for all kids aged 3 upwards so feel free to bring your little ones up and give it a try. We have a few bits of gear for sale, check the Facebook page or text Hazel 0860592935 for details.

Our minors have qualified for the clubs first minor A final since 2011 when they drew with Eire Og 2-10 to 3-07 to top the group on score difference which means they will play Baltinglass who also topped their group on score difference on October 20th in Aughrim. The lads will be hoping to win the clubs first minor championship since 1990. It's hard to believe with all the success we've had at senior level that its 29 years since we last won a minor title with final defeats in 1991, 1996, 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2011. The under 11 red team won the division 1 championship on Saturday after Bray Emmets strangely gave them a walkover while the greens had a brilliant win over St. Pats to win the division 3. Well done to all the lads and coaches on a great day in Ballinakill bringing home two trophies. Hard luck to the under 15 team who lost away to Baltinglass in the A championship and now finish third in their group to qualify for the A shield final this Saturday at 2.30 check the Facebook page for venue. The intermediate team lost their relegation playoff against Stratford on Thursday and will now play junior A next year. This can be a chance to rebuild and get a few more young lads coming through and hopefully kick on next season. Well done to under 12 girls who defeated St. Pats 2-08 to 0-05 on Tuesday. The under 13 team are playing Annacurra at home on Wednesday at 6.45 in the B championship. Our annual Charlie Melia blitz and prize giving takes play this Friday at 6.00. This is always a great evenings entertainment with all kids from u7s to u11s taking part in a blitz and there will also be a BBQ and shop and lots of fun for all.

Best of luck to Glenealy on Sunday as they go looking for their third senior hurling championship in a row against Bray Emmets. Congratulations to Jason Quinn and his partner Mary on the birth of their baby daughter its great to see hodger helping the girls section of the club once again. All in the club send its condolences to the family of u14 coach Darren Delaney who's younger brother Kieran sadly passed away last week after a short illness may he rest in peace.
