U12 Hurling V Na Piarsagh

Na Piarsaigh 2-8 vs 2-2 Cappamore

We travelled to Na Piarsaigh to face a very strong team. Na Piarsaigh started the brighter and got into the game much quicker than our lads. They scored the first two points early on. They soon added a goal. We were struggling to impose ourselves on the game. At half time we were loosing 1-4 to 0-1, with Alex Heney scoring our point.

We made some positional changes at half time to try and tighten up on Na Piarsaigh and win more ball. The second half though continued in the same vein as the first with Na Piarsaigh tacking over some more points, we still battled away and were beginning to get more and more into the match. Alex Heney score another point from a free. Unfortunately Na Piarsaigh scored another goal. This though seemed to motivate our lads, at this stage we had nothing to  loose and the boys seemed to play with more freedom and tore into the opposition for the last ten minutes. We won a 21 yard free which Alex Heney dispatched to the net. We continued to pile on the pressure on the Na Piasaigh goal. Cillian O'Dwyer hit a long range free into the goal mouth and was unlucky to see his effort com back off the post. Alex Heney had a goal bound shot hit one of his own players on the back of the head. Another 21 yard free was won and again Alex hit the back of the net.

It finished 2-8 to 2-2, We might have been beaten by a better team but we battled to the very end and finished strongly.

Squad: Malachy Keogh, Cillian O'Dwyer, Andrew Caher, Cian O'Connor, Alex Heney, Tommy Dillon, Jacob Wright, James Ryan, Chris Smith, Fionn Cunnngham, Dion Doyle, David Meehan, Shane O'Neill, Darragh O'Shaughnessy, Leo Keogh.

U12 Football

Monaleen 1-7 vs 0-7 Cappamore

In what was a tight close match we lost by the deciding goal which came from a suspect penalty awarded to Monaleen half way through the second half.

In the first half there was nothing between the two teams, both team traded points, with Monaleen going into an early lead but with points from Jake Slattery (0-2) and one each from  Chris Smith and Ben Ryan, it was all square at half time 0-4 a piece.

Second Half continued in the same vein as the first with nothing between the two teams, Ben Ryan knocked over a free for us, and Jake Slattery scored his third point. Monaleen also scored a few points, but the game turned when the referee awarded Monaleen a penalty. We battled hard after that set back but we couldn't close the 3 point gap, Chris smith scored another point but also did Monaleen.

It finished on a scoreline of 1-7 to 0-7. The boys played really well, and if we had shown a bit more composure on the ball at times and made better decisions when in possession we may have gotten back into to it, but we can't fault the effort put in by all the squad.

Squad: Cillian O'Dwyer, Malachy Keogh, Andrew Caher, Cian O'Connor, Alex Heney, Jacob Wright,James Ryan, Ben Ryan, Jake Slattery, Chris Smith,David Meehan, Tommy Dillon, Dion Doyle, Fionn Cunningham, Tadgh Blackwell, Leo Keogh
