Patrickswell club notes

SENIOR HURLERS: Patrickswell were held to a draw in the All County Hurling League in Doon. The 'Well made a convincing start and raced into a 0-3 to 0-0 lead within five minutes. Doon registered their first point, but Mark Carmody and Jack Kelleher stretched the lead to 0-5 to 0-1 for the visitors. The East Men increased their tempo and were rewarded by five unanswered points. At the midpoint of the first half, Doon led by 0-6 to 0-5. Kevin O'Brien equalised for Patrickswell, but Doon edged ahead again. Thankfully, Jack Kelleher was in excellent scoring form before the interval. He notched five points to establish a 0-11 to 0-8 lead at half-time.

Doon started the second half strongly and registered four straight points. The scoreline was 0-12 to 0-11 before Tom O'Brien equalised. Doon added another pair of points; however Jason Gillane, Kevin O'Brien and Andrew Carroll restored the Patrickswell lead at 0-15 to 0-14 with ten minutes left. The pendulum swung back in Doon's favour as they struck two points. Jack Kelleher restored parity at 0-16 apiece to set up an exciting final five minutes. Due to a player injury, the referee had to call a draw before time elapsed.

JUNIOR A HURLERS: Patrickswell picked up their second win of the City Championship after a convincing win over Monaleen. Within ten minutes, the 'Well cruised into a 0-4 to 0-0 lead. Monaleen struck two points, but these were cancelled out by Cillian O'Reilly and Cian Enright. Monaleen added another two points; however Gavin Carey and Jamie Dillon responded in kind. There were five minutes left in the first half and Anthony Carmody's men led by 0-8 to 0-4. Cian Enright secured two fresh points to ensure that Patrickswell reached the break at 0-10 to 0-5 ahead.

The second half began favourably when Cian Enright's two points were followed by an Owen McNamara goal. From an extremely tight angle, the forward slotted the ball through the goalkeeper's legs. Patrickswell were nine points ahead at 1-12 to 0-6. Monaleen fought back with four unanswered points to slash the arrears to 1-12 to 0-10. The game was decided as a contest when Patrickswell rattled over four points and Peter Harty struck a lovely goal from a narrow angle.  The scoreline was 2-16 to 0-11 with a few minutes left. Darragh Ahern closed out the match with a late point. The City League Final and 3rd championship match will take place on Saturday June 22 at 7pm in Mungret against Claughaun.

CLUB LOTTO: Lotto results for the week ending Monday June 10 were as follows. The numbers drawn were 2, 3, 15 and 29. The Bonus was 8. There was no jackpot winner. The Lucky Dip Winners were Karen Ryan €100, Noel Carey €50, Seamus Kirby €20, Frank Nolan €20, Kay O'Dowd  €20, Brendan O'Shea €20 and The Legends €20. The next draw on Monday June 17 will be held in Ballybrown GAA. The jackpot is €12,800!
