Patrickswell Club Notes

March 11, 2019

UNDER 21 HURLERS: The U-21 hurlers maintained their 100% record in the Premier Hurling Championship after beating Kildimo-Pallaskenry at a rain-soaked Gaelic Grounds.

Our opponents adapted to the terrible conditions and dominated the opening fifteen minutes. Patrickswell found themselves four points down and under consistent pressure. John Flynn notched the 'Well's first point to settle some nerves; however Kildimo-Pallaskenry cancelled out this score immediately. Once again, John Flynn narrowed the deficit to three points with his second point, but it was swiftly matched. Thankfully, Des Foley's men rallied in the last five minutes of the first half and claimed consecutive points from Cillian O'Reilly, Paudie Maher and John Flynn. The half-time deficit was 0-6 to 0-5.

The second half produced a dominant display from Patrickswell that overwhelmed Kildimo-Pallaskenry. Darragh Ahern, John Flynn and Brian Fitzgerald scored early points to establish a 0-8 to 0-6 lead. Cian Enright's goal was a turning point in the match. This moment was followed by a consistent scoring rate as Jamie Dillon, Jason Gillane (0-2) and Josh Considine (0-2) piled on the points. With five minutes left, Patrickwell were ten points ahead at 1-13 to 0-6. Our opponents struck their solitary point of the second half with a few minutes left. The final score was 1-14 to 0-7. Patrickswell have qualified directly into a semi-final that is scheduled for Tuesday March 19.
