Charity Road Hurling 2018

 

Many thanks to all those who took to the roads on December 27th last for the annual St. Kieran’s GAA Club charity road hurling competition. Since its inception the event has gone from strength to strength and it is becoming one of the most enjoyable days in our GAA calendar with players young and old taking part. The 2018 event saw 44 teams taking part, it was extremely encouraging to see so many of our younger members take to the roads and showcase their array of talents. We would also like to thank all those who provided assistance on the day be it collecting money, providing refreshments en-route and also directing traffic, without your continued support the event would not be possible. Due to the generosity of all concerned this year’s event raised an excellent total of €2810 with all proceeds’ going towards Milford Hospice and the Bumbleance service. Thank you all for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you all again for the 2019 event.

 

 

 

Bereavement:

All within St. Kieran’s GAA club would like to extend our condolences to the Molyneaux family, Ardagh on the recent bereavement of Joan Molyneaux. Joan was an outstanding volunteer for St. Kieran’s providing many years of services in a variety of capacities from looking after jersey’s to providing first aid to an array of different teams across both codes and will be dearly missed by all within the club.

 

County Senior Football Championship 2019:

The draw for the 2019 County Senior Football Championship was made at the Limerick GAA convention prior to Christmas and much like 2018 we have been drawn in a very competitive group in which we have to perform to our maximum potential in order to advance for the knockout stages of the championship. 2018 was very productive, winning our first four games of the championship against Ballysteen, St. Patrick’s, Oola and Fr. Casey’s before defeat in round 5 to Newcastlewest and bowing out of the championship at the quarter final stage to Monaleen. This year we have been drawn against intermediate champions Galbally, Oola, Na. Piarsaigh, Drom/Broadford and Newcastlewest.

Limerick Senior Football:

Darragh Treacy and Sean McSweeney were part of the Limerick senior football team who began their 2019 campaign on Sunday last against Cork in the McGrath Cup in Mick Neville Park, unfortunately Limerick came out on the wrong side of a heavy defeat. Darragh lined out at midfield with Sean playing at Centre forward scoring five points from frees. Limerick begin their National League campaign in two-week time with an opening round encounter away to London in Ruislip where they will be hoping to get off to a winning start as they look to push for promotion.
