Liam McCarthy & Ladies Football All Ireland Cups Arrive in Rathkeale!
Rathkeale GAA Club & Supporters enjoyed a fantastic couple of hours when we had both Cups and representation from both the ladies & men’s teams including Olivia Giltenane, Kate Geary, Orlaith O’Donoghue, Joe O’Connor, Seamus Flanagan and lastly our Hurling Captain, Declan Hannon. The day kicked off when some quick photographs were captured in The Bog Garden, before moving up to the main event where the players, cups and supporters were paraded from the AIB up to the Community Centre by members of the Rathkeale Brass Band who played wonderfully. Frank Geary & Joe O’Connor, MC’s on the day, welcomed the large crowd before Comhaltas Ardagh\Carrickerry provided fantastic entertainment with dancing and music. Back to our MC’s, who welcomed our Limerick superstars onto the stage before Frank fired questions at the panel who entertained the crowd thoroughly. Winners of the Art & Poetry competitions were announced, which was very well organized by Shivaun O’Connor. Winners are as follows, firstly for the Art Competition; Emily Larkin, Kylie McCarthy, Jayden Wilmott, Rachel Walsh, Oisin Lynch, Noel Egan and Calum Hogan. It’s worth highlighting that Noel Egan paid tribute to the late and well-loved Limerick’s Leonard Enright taking artistic licence to a new level, well done Noel. Winners of the Poetry Competition were Eva Keating, Serena Brighton and Cathal Guerin, well done to all our winners of the respective competitions. Finally, there was plenty of opportunity for photo shoots & autographs while players & supporters enjoyed hot beverages and fantastic finger food, thanks to Brenda & Damien O’Grady of Rathkeale House Hotel. We even had time for the players to test their musician skills, we can only say that they may need to stick with their sporting skills, full marks on effort and entertainment value though! The day wouldn’t have been as successful without the involvement of many people, firstly special thanks goes to our players; Olivia, Kate, Orlaith, Declan, Seamus and Joe on giving up many hours of your Sunday. Thanks also to the Rathkeale Brass Band, the Community Centre Committee on making the venue available, our MC’s Frank & Joe, the aforementioned Musicians, Rathkeale House Hotel, Eurospar and the organizing committee of the event. Well done to everyone involved! Let’s hope we can repeat the occasion over the coming years! U21 Football
Our U21 Footballers remain in second position of Group 1 despite losing out to Adare on a scoreline of 2-07 to 0-12. This throws the group wide open now with Monaleen leading the way on 6 points but with three teams now sitting on 2 points. It will make for an interesting final round of games where a win is a must for Rathkeale, best of luck to all involved in our remaining group game which is against Oola.
