St. Kieran's Club Notes

October 09, 2018

Liam McCarthy Cup:

St. Kieran’s GAA is delighted to announce that the Liam McCarthy cup along with members of the victory Limerick All Ireland senior hurling championship panel will be visiting St. Kieran’s on Saturday October 20. This will be an excellent opportunity to come and meet the players following their outstanding victory over Galway and also a chance to get your photo with Liam McCarthy. We will have more exact details of the event in next week's edition and also on our social media pages in the coming days.

West U21 Football Championship:

The u21 footballers get their West Championship campaign underway this Saturday afternoon when the make the journey to Athea for the round 1 encounter with Shannon Gaels (Glin / Gerard Griffins). We have been drawn in group 2 along with Clan Na Gael, with the top two teams in the group advance to the West A semi-final while the third placed side will continue into the West B Championship which we won along with County honours in 2017. Group one contains St. Senan’s, Athea/Mountcollins, Drom/Broardford and Granagh/Ballingarry/Banogue. Saturday’s game throws in at 4pm where victory is vital if we are to stand any chance of progression into the A championship semi-final. Shannon Gael’s will no doubt provide very stiff opposition, both Glin and Gerard Griffins recently made the knockout stages of the County Intermediate football championship with Gerard Griffins bowing out at the penultimate stage this past weekend while their minor side qualified for the County Minor B final on Friday evening with an extra time victory over Knockainey.

ADRSC Astroturf project:

Following weeks of hard work by the contractors the new Astroturf facility will be completed within the coming weeks. The past month has seen huge progress take place on the facility in the school field in Ardagh and it is hoped the pitch should be up and running and available for use next month. Just this past week the floodlighting was erected and there is no doubt that the facility will provide a huge boost for all organisations within the local community on completion. Also, many thanks to all those who generously contributed to the scrap-metal collection on Saturday morning last. Great community spirt was shown by all involved, many thanks to those who generously gave up thier spare time on Saturday morning to travel around to the various households in the parish to make collections. All funds raised from the collections will be going directly towards funding the Astroturf pitch. There will also be a clothes collection in November, so this is another opportunity for you to get rid of any unwanted items of clothing.
