Patrickswell Club Notes

SENIOR HURLERS: Patrickswell overcame South Liberties in the County Championship quarter-final at the Gaelic Grounds. The opening quarter was keenly contested as Patrickswell opened a narrow 0-6 to 0-5 lead. In the latter stages of the opening half, the 'Well's class began to show as we pulled away by 1-13 to 0-9 at the interval.

The second half commenced with a purple patch from Gary Kirby's men. Seven unanswered points were added to the scoreboard within fifteen minutes. Patrickswell were now 14 points ahead at 1-20 to 0-9. South Liberties edged back into the contest, but the final result was 1-26 to 1-13. The semi-final against Doon is next Sunday October 14 at 2pm.

JUNIOR A HURLERS: The Junior A hurlers were eliminated from the County Championship after suffering their first defeat of the season. The opposition was a strong Killeedy team that were a dominant force. Patrickswell trailed by ten points at half-time with the scoreline at 1-12 to 0-5. The second half was extremely close, but the 'Well could not reduce the margin. The final result was 1-18 to 0-11. It has been a great season that yielded three trophies. Hard luck to the players and management.

PARISH LEAGUE: The traditional finale to the boys' and girls' season has been scheduled for Sunday October 21 at 11.30am. It gives the young players a chance to showcase their skills.

NELIUS HAYES RIP: The club were saddened to learn of the death of former Treasurer and colleague Nelius Hayes. Our sympathies to his family. May he rest in peace.
