Rathkeale club notes

September 11, 2018

Best of Luck to Kate Geary and the Limerick Ladies Football Team!

Best of luck to our own Kate Geary who will represent Limerick in the All Ireland Junior Football final against Louth, this Sunday, September 16th.

No doubt it is a great honour for Kate, a proud Rathkeale girl, playing her club football with Adare to grace Croke Park on All Ireland Day in the green of Limerick.

For those unable to make the trip to Dublin, the game will be televised live on TG4 at 11.45am. Rathkeale GAA Club and the surrounding parish wish Kate and the Limerick team all the very best. Luimneach Abú.

Intermediate Footballers Crowned West Intermediate Champions

Congratulations to our Intermediate Footballers after they stormed home to victory to be crowned 2018 West Intermediate Champions last Saturday evening in Newcastlewest. In a cagey first half it was the men from Athea who led at the halftime interval by 5 points to 4.

Rathkeale came out a different team in the second half and notched up 3-06 to win with ease in the end on a scoreline of 3-10 to 1-07. Congratulations to all involved, hopefully it won’t be our last silverware in 2018!

Croagh\Kilfinny Rathkeale Celebrate West Minor A Hurling Win!

Congratulations to Croagh\Kilfinny\Rathkeale who have been crowned West Minor A Hurling Champions and have made it a back to back double.

A fantastic achievement for this team who have remained unbeaten for the year. Some great performances in defense, coupled with unerring free taking from James O’Brien and vital goals from Jack Lenihan and Josh O’Connor made this a memorable victory. Final score from Feenagh, Croagh\Kilfinny\Rathkeale 2-13, Newcastlewest 0-18. Well done to all the players and management on a great performance.

Junior B Footballers Bow out in exciting Quarter Final

Commiserations to our Junior B Footballers who narrowly lost out in their West quarter final yesterday evening. Final score on the night, Fr Caseys 2-10, Rathkeale 1-12. Rathkeale will reflect on a decent year having contested the league final and could just have easily found themselves in the West Semi Final after last night. No doubt we will see them back stronger next year, well done to the players and management.

Minor Footballers in Semi-Final Action on Tuesday Night

Our Minor Footballers play the Premier Minor Semi-Final on Tuesday night. This is their 4th year in a row advancing to the final 4 stage and this will be their 3rd time playing Fr Caseys at this stage of the tournament.

Some players, Barry Coleman, Mark White & Josh O’Connor are also playing their 4th Semi Final in row and a number of other players are facing their 3rd Semi-Final. No doubt all those players and supporters of course, will be hoping to get over this difficult hurdle and advance to the final in what has proven to be an elusive title for us over the past few years. Maybe, like the Limerick hurlers, this could be our year?

The game is on under lights in Mick Neville Park, we hope to see you there!

Full details as follows:

Tuesday 11th September - Q3 Security County Premier Minor Football Championship Semi Final - Fr Casey’s v Rathkeale in Mick Neville Park at 7.45pm

Late Show – Joe O’Connor

Congratulations once again to our Limerick hurlers on bringing Liam back to Shannon side and fantastic to see John Kiely, Declan Hannon and our very own Joe 'O Connor feature on Friday nights Late Show.

Apparently they were last on so they wouldn’t clash with the West Minor A Victory! Well done Joe, you have done your parish proud over the last number of years.
