UNDER 16 HURLERS

Our under 16 hurlers were back in Championship action on Friday evening when they welcomed Cappamore to Pairc Ui Dromguil.

We welcomed back a few of our lads from holidays and had a much more settle look to the team.

We had the better of the early exchanges and got some excellent scores.

Pa O Neill in the corner was particularily sharp and had 2 goals rattled in to the net before the short whistle.

Dylan Lynch in the other corner was also very lively and he also rattle the net in the first half along with a further two points .

Cian Brosnan and Mark O Connor rounded off a very good first half display to leave us 3-6 to 0-7 in front.

The second half the tempo picked up with Cappamore powering back into the contest.

Our goalkeeper Shane Kelly having a great outing between the posts had to be on high alert throughout thwarting many assaults on his goal.

Stephen Mitchell and the corner back pairing of Fionn O Tiarnaigh and Frankie Naughton were ever vigiliant and had an excellent 60 minutes in the sky blue.

Our launch pad was coming from our half back line who had Vince Harrington, Kieran Richardson and JJ Carey in excellent form while the midfield pairing of Sean Patrick O Halloran and John Fitzgerald worked tirelessly.

With Mark O Connor dominating at number 11 it provided space for Cian Brosnan and Marcus Hogan to profit.

Adam Long, George Cussen, Luke Hegarty and Eoin Coughlan all seeing game time in what was an excellent victory.

Our second half scores coming from Dylan Lynch(3 frees), a Cian Brosnan goal after great work from Luke Hegarty and two insurance points from Pa O Neill to seal a 4-11 to 2-13 win.

Team: Shane Kelly, Fionn O Tiarnaigh, Stephen Mitchell, Frankie Naughton, Vince Harrington, Kieran Richardson, JJ Carey, Sean Patrick O Halloran, John Fitzgerald, Cian Brosnan, Markl O Connor, Marcus Hogan, Pa O Neill, Adam Long, Dylan Lynch.

Subs all used: George Cussen, Luke Hegarty, Eoin Coughlan,

Scorers: Pa O Neill(2-4), Dylan Lynch(1-5), Cian Brosnan(1-1), Mark O Connor(0-1)

SENIOR HURLERS

Our senior hurlers played their final group game of the All County League on Friday evening when they welcomed Kilmallock to Pairc Ui Dromguil.

As the table reflected prior to the game we needed a 4 point minimum victory to qualify for the League Final.

As the game panned out it was a victory for Na Piarsaigh but only by a 2 point margin 3-18 to 1-22.

Our goals coming from Adrian Breen(2) and Conor Boylan.

We therefore thought our chance of qualifying was gone but it later emerged that the table was incorrect initially so it is now known that Na Piarsaigh and Doon will contest the League Final.

More game time given to young lads like Sean Long Will Henn, Ger Kearns, Kevin Daly along with Dean McLoughlin who has revelled in the phusical battles that senior hurling provides. Kevin Ryan had a good outing in goals along with Adrian Breen, Kevin Downes and Conor Boylan.

With Limerick qualifying for the All Ireland semi final our Round 3 Championship clash with Kilmallock will now be put back a week to the August weekend.

JUNIOR HURLERS

Our junior hurlers played out a thrilling draw in the City Championship with Crecora on a 2-17 to 3-14 scoreline.

LIMERICK SENIOR HURLERS

Congratulations to the Limerick senior hurling team who had an excellent victory over Kilkenny on Sunday in the All Ireland quarter final.

Our own Mike Casey was the only starter and he had a fine outing keeping Colin Fennelly quiet.

Will O Donoghue , Shane Dowling and Peter Casey were all sprung from the bench as the game reached boiling point and they performed admirably also with Peter chipping in with two points and Shane with a point.

We now look forward to Croke Park on July 29th and a date with Cork.

Best wishes also to Emmet McEvoy who will be part of the LImerick minor hurlers hoping to make a semi final when they take on Kilkenny.
