Intermediate Hurling Championship Round 1: St Patrick's 2 14 Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0 13
A brilliant win this Sunday on an emotional weekend for all involved with the club , with a fantastic performance in Croagh for the Intermediate hurlers. A lightening quick start playing with the aid of a slight breeze was to be the platform for victory. An early Wayne Cronin goal, a couple of massive scores from Gearoìd Hegarty and huge workrate from the team in the first half had Saints leading 1 9 to 6 points at the break , with Dromcollogher adding a couple of late scores to narrow the gap. St Patrick's kept the scoreboard ticking over on the restart with Calvin Moran deadly accurate once again with placed balls and then a Moran goal following great work from Michael Geary stretched the lead to seven once again. Both sides were unlucky with goal chances late on, David Geary with a vital save and with good defensive work at one end and at the other Andrew Hannigan raising a white flag for the second time, the forwards winning vital frees and working hard to put pressure on the opposing defence,St Patrick's closed out the game in impressive fashion.
We wish Brendan Mullins a speedy recovery who took a bad knock late in the game, many thanks to Dromcollogher/Broadford medic Mary Cregan for the great help in aiding to Brendan at the time.
Huge credit to the panel of players and management, Missing a few "regulars" for different reasons it was a performance to raise the spirits of all St Patrick's members who had a great clubman in JJ Kenneally on their minds.
