Galbally club notes

April 16, 2018

Galbally GAA field has been officially closed of late until further notice and it is hoped that it will be reopened soon weather permitting. Conditions have not been ideal due to recent weather conditions and indeed the Galbally Under 16 team had to play in the Community Field last week where were beaten by 3-5 to 1-8 by St Patricks in the Premier Under 16 Football Championship. The team was: Jack O'Keeffe, Jack O'Reilly, Eoin O'Sullivan, Nathan O'Mahony, Patrick McGrath, Michael O'Donnell, Ciaran Beston, Robert Sampson, Peter O'Dwyer, Adam Sheehan, Shane Hanrahan, Jordan Dineen, Niall O'Dwyer, Josh Dineen, Aidan Carew.

Underage training has resumed on Tuesday nights and anyone interested in coaching a team should contact Darren Sheedy on 087-6646446. Galbally Bord Na nÓg are interested in putting a rota of adult players together to help with the underage training and if everyone gives a night every so often it eases the burden, and also enables older players to pass on their experience.

It is that time of year again and we are hosting our annual U-10 Boys and U-10 Girls Gaelic Football Blitz. All clubs in Limerick and nearby counties are cordially invited to participate in a great day of entertainment for all the family. We are looking forward to seeing all your teams again this year on Saturday 12th May 2018. This year we have a limited number of places due to the increased interest and success of the last two years fun days. During the day we will have free car parking, novelty events, bouncy castle, barbeque, coffee shop, sweet shop and many other novelty activities.

Registration is at 11.30am in the morning. Please bring your clubs banner for the Grand Parade, led by the Liam Lynch Memorial Pipe Band at 12 noon followed by the blitz. Each child will receive a gold medal for participating in the blitz. The games are 7 players a side and will run for 15 minutes per game. You will receive your schedule of games for the day on arrival and be directed to the playing pitches. Club entry fee is €50 for 1 team and €80 for 2 teams to reserve a place and it can be forwarded to Brian Chaplin Club Treasurer.

Cheques should be made out to Galbally GAA Club and posted directly to club treasurer Brian Chaplin at the following address: Brian Chaplin, Treasurer Galbally GAA Club, Lissard, Galbally, Co Limerick. Contact event organiser Pat Byrnes on 085-2522345 to confirm club colours, number of players and approximate standard of the team. This will assist with the grading of the groups.
